Hi Jamahl, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We honestly got started right when the pandemic hit. When most people ran out trying to gather groceries and toilet paper, we only cared about racking up on candles. We easily spent $100-$200/mo on candles, and since we didn’t know how long we would be quarantined, spoiler alert, we didn’t buy enough candles, but we got a bunch. But we burned through all of them in the first two weeks, and everything online was either out of season or ridiculously expensive. So we took up the art of candle-making, and it grew to something we never thought imaginable.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing about entrepreneurship is a smooth road. There is always some surprise waiting for you around the corner. Be it financial, operational, educational, or economical. Navigating opening a business in the middle of a pandemic (Yes, crazy!) while learning about the impacts of the supply chain was the most challenging part. With so many international and domestic delays, we had to learn how to set clear and transparent expectations with our customer base.

In its simplest form, our mission is to have our handcrafted home fragrance products be a catalyst to spread grace and love in our modern-day world. Do you have any advice for those just starting?
This will be the hardest and most exciting thing you will ever do outside of getting married and becoming a parent. You will laugh a lot and cry even more and sometimes laugh to keep from crying, and then eventually, all the emotions will blend. But always remember why you got started and never lose sight of that. Celebrate every single victory, no matter how big or small. Take pictures and videos of EVERYTHING. Just because someone says, no doesn’t mean you are a failure. Always put your best face forward and ALWAYS show appreciation for your community. Without them, there is no you.
