Daily Inspiration: Meet Tysheira Maddox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tysheira Maddox.

Hi Tysheira, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I decided back in 2017 that I wanted to use my life as an inspiration for others. I knew I always wanted to be a life coach, but felt that I was too young. Before I started my Master’s program in Social Work, I took a leap of faith and completed a certificate program to become a life coach. I wanted to help Black women in their 20s gain clarity on their goals, build confidence to help them face adversity, and to create a system where they can execute their goals consistently. My mother was a teenage single mom, and I watched her not only become a mother but navigate the 20s on her own. Because of this lived experience, I have been in position to be a couple of steps ahead of my peers. I felt that it was my mission in life to help others along the way, so that’s why I created Leave Inspired, Inc.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Whew! Life will NEVER be a smooth road, but that’s what makes it worth it in the end. I felt all sorts of insecurities when I became a life coach and even when I finished my Master’s program. I questioned if I could really help Black women in their 20s. Will they listen to me? Will I make sense? Will my age disqualify me? I had to get out of my own way and still have to do the work to this day, the mental work that is, to keep going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Licensed Social Worker working towards clinical hours to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker where I am able to practice independently – private practice here I come, haha. I am a personal development coach for Black women in their 20s, I am an Author – I released my first book on my birthday, 2/22 and it is titled,”For the Unguided Twenty Something Year Old: Advice, Lessons Learned, and Inspiration. I have a merchandise brand called Black Girl Goals & Things. Lastly, I am a chairwoman of a non-profit, 901 education. People that know me, know that I am always up to something lol. I believe in utilizing every gift that I was given whether it will bring about monetary fulfillment, peace, joy or love – if I am called to create something, I will do that. If I am called to serve in some capacity for a season or lifetime, I will do that. There is nothing that I can’t do, and I truly believe that. At times it can be scary but I know that it is just a testament to my ambition.

I believe that I am called to be a servant for my people. That’s why everything that I have created is to serve them. Now the books that I will continue to write, will always be for the emerging adulthood population. Those that are considered Gen Z and Millennials. All that I mention above sets me apart because I do not take no for answer and I continue to search within myself to ensure that I am doing what I am supposed to do with my time here on earth.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always in support for collaboration. What that can look like is having live conversations discussing personal development, mental health, and overall wellness. I am available to do workshops geared towards those topics as well as provide group coaching. Support goes a long way and I am appreciative of the many forms support can be shown to all that I do. That may be letting a Black woman in her 20’s know about my personal development coaching services, letting a school know about my book geared to helping 20 – somethings navigate life, or any dope Black women in your family who love casual wear that can be dressed up or down.
