Community Highlights: Meet Desiree Goode-Green of Natural Trinity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Goode-Green.

Desiree, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t start out seeking to be a health and nutrition coach. For the past two decades, I have worked in the corporate world. Life turned me upside down when I had my thyroid removed.

Fed up watching my health decline, I decided to take my health into my own hands. What I discovered changed my life! The healing experience I had with food was transformative, and I had to share it. I decided to go back to school.

I became a certified health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). I received my Master’s Degree in clinical nutrition specializing in holistic health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road in my journey to a better mind, body, and soul. I was living the way most Americans live for the day, kind of way. I was worried about advancing my career and taking care of my family. My struggle started when my son, who was 17 years old at the time, was diagnosed with myocarditis and nearly died. He never had any major medical concerns, so you can imagine its impact on my health.

My son eventually needed a heart transplant, and thank God he received a heart transplant. When I thought life was finally getting back to some normalcy, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. During this time, I had my thyroid removed, and my health was also declining. My mother passed away, and its impact on my health forced me to seek other ways of healing.

I decided to seek help from a health coach, and she introduced me to different ways of eating and viewing life. The health coach helped me learn you can eat all the healthy foods in the world, but if your life is out of balance, you will still be susceptible to sickness and disease.

I learned balance; however, it doesn’t mean that everything stays the same or you will wake up one day, and life will be perfect. Balance is something we have to work on creating every day, and the key is to have the proper tools to help you stay or get back into balance each day.

The tools could be a great family and friend support system, healthy eating, learning breathing techniques, yoga, exercise, meditation or prayer, affirmations, or a nice cup of chamomile tea.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Natural Trinity?
I’m an author, health and nutrition coach, & thyroid disease thriver, and I teach people suffering from thyroid disease how to feel strong and alive right now!

I have had my own struggles with health, so I am able to relate to my clients’. I did not have the knowledge and support to understand how to manage my thyroid disease and eventually had my thyroid removed. I have learned the power of living a balanced life with food, environment, relationships, and spirituality.

It has changed my life, and I do not want anyone to go through the same experience I had, so I decided to change my career and go back to school to become a nutritionist.

My company Natural Trinity is built on the foundation of accountability and bio-individuality, which means finding what works best for you! Through one-on-one consultation, nutrition assessments, supplementation, blogs, recipes, meal plans, and workshops, I inspire my clients. I recently launched a skincare line based on a holistic natural approach to skincare.

I am a lover of herbs, and my degree in holistic medicine helped me establish a skincare line that provides renewed radiance and a healthy balance to your skin.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I started appreciating what I had instead of worrying about what I didn’t have and worrying about losing it all.

I had spent so much of my life being turned into the “Lost Channel” (a channel that reminds you that you can lose everything at any minute and you’re not worthy of what you have) that I never accepted what I had. But I finally decided to tune into “Thankful Channel” (the channel that reminds you to be thankful for everything and open for more thankful blessings).

That’s when things really began to open up.
