Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlene Levy.
Hi Carlene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Jamaica and raised in New York. Growing up in New York, you see different cultures, lifestyles, and creativity. I took an interest in hair, makeup, and fashion. I Graduated Highschool went to college in Maryland in 2002. I got pregnant and took off a couple of years to work and focus on my son, who is now 16 years old. After my son was born, I started to embrace my natural hair in 2005. Being back in New York, I didn’t see many females wearing their natural hair. I didn’t see many natural hair salons in my area. I decided to return to Maryland and focus on cosmetology school while working at a public school to learn more about natural hair. I graduated from Cosmetology school and received my License. I’m also a certified makeup artist and received my Associate’s Degree in Business Management.
Styling some of my client’s hair, they too struggle in managing, maintaining, and growing healthy hair. In 2020, I decided to focus on making natural hair products.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A smooth road on my natural hair journey! Wishful thinking. I had a few ups and downs with my natural hair for years. I experienced a lot of breakages, and my hair was dry, dull, brittle. I had a hard time finding the right natural hair products and giving my hair what is necessary to grow and be healthy. I tried so many hair products out on the market, but there were too many harsh toxic ingredients. I eventually went back wearing curly hair extensions. Rocking hair extensions also took a toll on my hair due to not taking care of it underneath.

What makes me happy is seeing the smiles, reviews, and results on friends, family, and customers! I love to hear others’ natural hair journey stories. Good and Bad. That is why my goal is to help others become more aware of their natural hair. Whether, you are rocking a protective style, hair extensions, or wearing your natural hair. Consistency is the key to balanced moisture and protein in your hair by using less toxic and harsh products. Once you establish a hair routine, you will learn to maintain and grow thick, healthy hair.
