Chef Montez Hymon also known as “Chef Tez”. A 24-year-old black entrepreneur and Executive private chef based out of Charlotte, NC but originally from Baltimore, MD. Blessed to be able to say my company has thrived through the pandemic because of the high demand of in-home catering, while other companies may have diminished. My company has acquired a high-in, VIP clientele. Serving immaculate upscale dishes with a team of skilled chefs, from the comfort of the client’s own homes, estates, and venues. This year I had the honor to come back home to Baltimore to cater an upscale party for the pastor and First Lady of Shiloh Christian Community Church for over 120 guest and plans to return for an upcoming Christmas event.
As I’m contusions growing and building my company brick by brick, I plan on expanding more into the DMV area. Connecting with more black leaders and entrepreneurs and also giving inspiration to the youth in the city I come from!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As a young chef fighting your way into this industry some of the biggest struggles is finding a reliable team that you can trust and depend on. Also, to execute things at the level and standards you set, even when you’re not there. Building a successful company, you have to do all the work. From the most minor things to the most important things. Delegating that responsibility to someone has been one of my biggest struggles and becomes extremely wearing on your mind, body, and personal life.
But I think one of the biggest, most consistent struggles that I run into is getting clients to understand what exactly it is that I do, as a private chef. Getting clients to understand the task at hand. The time and effort that’s put into assuring that their event goes perfectly, and as stressless as possible on for the client. I like comparing it to bringing a 5 star restaurant into the comfort of your own home. Most people fail to realize the work and preparation it takes, and most importantly fails to understand why our prices points can be very costly!

Chef Tez LLC is a small private catering company specializing in upscale fine dining dishes for VIP clients, from the comfort of their own homes and estates. Equipped with a team of highly passionate and skilled chefs, traveling across the country to cater to our clients’ needs. My company is not only known for the high-quality food that we provide but also our service and professionalism. That is what sets us apart from other caters in the market. I can’t say that it’s one thing that I’m most proud of, just the endless opportunities that continuously comes my direction. Being able to come this far in the short amount of time, waking up every day filling my dreams!
