Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Akinrinmola.
Hi Anthony, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hi my name is Anthony Akinrinmola. I was born in Lagos Nigeria and moved to the US at an early age. Played a lot of sports growing up until my first year of college. I started modeling in the fall of 2019. I started with DC Fashion Week where I was able to meet a whole slew of models and photographers. Starting out it was just something that I didn’t really take that seriously, but that show was a pivotal moment showing me that I really did enjoy modeling. After that, I continued finding other great creatives in the DMV area and creating the best content that I was capable of. It was an amazing time because apart from the actual work it takes, meeting other people that share a similar vision has made this journey that much better. Now I am in Miami trying to make as many connections that I can and just trying to grow and learn.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like with anything in life it hasn’t been easy and I don’t think I was mentally ready for how tough it would be. Getting comfortable in front of camera was one slight difficulty because anyone can look good but if you can’t be comfortable in front of the camera then it means nothing. One of the hardest things was always feeling like I was not doing enough. I was just starting, yes, but at the same time, it was hard to see others that I worked with/wished to work with doing so well and not wonder what I was doing wrong. It was a constant struggle between myself and reality, I thought that this was supposed to come easy and that just because I was working hard that things would work out for me, I quickly realized that was not the case.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a model, aspiring actor, student, and athlete. I go to the University of Miami where I study Computer Science. I have been modeling as well since 2019 starting in Baltimore MD. I enjoy doing commercial modeling, but I also love editorial-style shoots where ideas can truly fly and you can create whatever your heart desires. I take a look at some of my work in the past and compare it to now and just truly am most proud of the evolution of myself as a person. I am more comfortable in my skin and confident. I am proud of the relationships that I have been able to form that have gotten me to where I am now. The support I receive is what truly keeps be going. I am also extremely of a big job that I recently was able to land (won’t go into too much detail, yet). I am also focused on my fitness and inspiring others to take it seriously. I train group fitness at Aim Higher Fitness in Miami FL and I plan on getting my CPT(personal training certificate) soon so I can start taking on individual clients.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Taking risks is only for those who are able to handle the outcome if it does not work out the way they planned. I do believe that taking risks is very important when pursuing anything because it pushes you into a state of being uncomfortable and I strongly believe that in order to grow one must be uncomfortable. You have to have some faith that the unknown will take you where you want to be because if you only work in the realm of what you know you miss out on so much that the world has to offer. Personally, I took a huge risk last year by choosing to attend the University of Miami. I could have gone to UMD College Park which would have been the safer option but I decided to see what God had for me in Miami. I can say that it has not been easy at all, easily the hardest year of my life. I learned a lot and failed a lot but I wouldn’t have chosen any other option if given the chance.
