Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Weinberg.
Hi Alexis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Last year, after finding myself in a very low space, I was moved to connect deeper with my creativity. I’ve not only found peace in embracing my creative mind, but I’m exploring myself as well. I was encouraged to take photography more seriously, as I only found it to be a hobby at first. I was already knowledgeable in the field of photography as I took some classes in high school. However, I never really took the time to utilize those skills. I have now fully emerged into the art of photography and have experimented in other mediums of art as well, painting, drawing, etc. Lately, I have started to be more open with my talent and share my work to reach my intended audience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe that every new journey you embark on will have some challenges and obstacles along the way. One of the main things I struggle with is not having enough belief in myself. When I don’t receive a certain amount of praise or reach a good amount of my intended audience, sometimes I begin to question myself which is never the way to go. But, more recently I have been reminding myself that those things do not define my strengths as an artist nor take away from my talent. Another challenge would be being faced with those periods of no inspiration or the lack of motivation to create. However, I’ve learned to use those moments to look back on my past work and use that time to develop new skills.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As previously mentioned, I am a photographer and visual artist. I paint, sketch and have just started to design art pieces digitally as well. My photographs consist of nature and wildlife for the most part. However, I have been taking my camera with me everywhere now, capturing pictures of things that intrigue me along my day’s journey. The paintings that I make are majority pour paintings, but those with a lot more movement than a typical one. I believe what sets me apart from others as an artist is my willingness and urge to step out of my norm but stay in my niche. Many artists I know conform to the one way they know how to create. But I believe that it’s rather hard to elevate yourself as a person and an artist if you can’t push yourself to try new things. I also believe that I can capture landscapes in a way many others may not be able to, especially when it comes to my editing style. Within the next coming months, I have a lot of new things in store to share. So, if you want to keep up with me and my work, I’d advise you to follow me on my social media.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is being true to myself. So often I’ve pushed my own dreams and aspirations aside to please others in my life, leaving me to feel unfulfilled. Now, I have begun to take chances on myself and pursue my desires, something I think is very important and valuable. You simply cannot be happy trying to live up to other people’s expectations of you.
