Today we’d like to introduce you to Van Wright IV.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I joined the military back in 2008. I was traveling around overseas so much I always kept a pocket camera with me at all times. Then smartphones were getting better so I was into smartphone photography. I just always took pictures of every place I’ve traveled too and it was a hobby. Just a year ago I stop doing free photoshoots after networking and putting my brand out. Now I’m doing well and my portfolio is where I need it to be.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was rough when I decided to start charging people because I didn’t know my worth. Because I actually love taking pictures, I never thought about doing it for money.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love how I can take any object any person with any background out in natural light. And turn it to a beautiful meaningful photo. And my turnaround on photos is a gift and a curse. I can get photos back to a client fast but to some people just because I can get it back fast, they don’t understand how hard I actually work to edit their photos to get them back in a timely matter.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I listen to a podcast called “Million Dollars’ Worth of Game” they Wallo and Gillie the Kid. They really teach the young generation how to grind and different ways to look at the world.
