Exploring Life & Business with Trenae Watson of TLW Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trenae Watson.

Hi Trenae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a strategist. From a little girl, I could see an opposition and develop a strategy to overcome it. Growing up and being around friends who are entrepreneurs, I would constantly think of ways to improve and bring forth the full vision. Being around people with ideas but unsure how to manifest it, really sparked my interest. I started helping those around me and then realized, while I’m helping those connected to me, there are so many other people needing the same assistance. I Corporate America, I work in the workforce development field, assisting youth and young adults obtain employment. From that experience, I was able to see firsthand youth interested in entrepreneurship as oppose to traditional employment options. From this, I created a course detailing how to start a business. This course is broken down and can be taught on all levels based on skill level, age, grade, etc. These fundamental tools equip individuals with the knowledge needed to be a successful entrepreneur. There is a huge emphasis on the administrative details of running a legitimate business.

Today, I work with clients in a group setting as well as 1:1 providing support to not only start a business but to maintain their business. I offer an array of services geared at taking businesses to the next level. I also work with individuals needing additional support around accomplishing non-business-related goals. Being extremely detailed oriented I am able to offer strategic planning and accountability sessions for every area of your life. I’ve always believed the saying “Failure to plan, is a plan to fail!”. I apply this logic with every area of my life and services I provide.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, I was my biggest struggle. As much as I encourage those around me, I was so nervous to “step out” and fail, that I wasn’t willing to just start! I procrastinated and over planned for every scenario that could possibly happen. Looking back, that was a lot of wasted energy that could have went elsewhere. Learning to trust myself and follow my dreams has been a game-changer.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
TLW Consulting aims to help individuals bring their vision to life. I work with individuals and entrepreneurs to create a path to their vision. I specialize in working with both female entrepreneurs and youth. I am very passionate about the work I do, ten minutes of working with me, you will feel that energy. It’s infectious!!! I work for each and every client as if it my personal vision. The attention to detail, time, and attention given at each level shows throughout. Services I offer are; business plan prep, accountability sessions, time management, strategic planning, career planning, business launch, administrative plans, etc.

What were you like growing up?
I was a very outgoing, talkative little girl. My mom had me at 17, so in many ways, we grew up together. Which, looking at it on the positive side, I was able to learn to survive under any circumstances. From many of those circumstances, I had to strategize and develop plans and that skill just remained with me. I love to talk and meet new people! I’m always interested in individuals journeys and how they got to where they are. I will literally ask a person a million questions. Some may call it nosey, but I call it research!!!!! lol.

My faith is a huge part of my upbringing and who I am today. It is the constant in my life that motivates me to next level. I’ve always believed I was a little different. Different in the sense of motivation wise. When something is placed in my heart or mind to do, nothing could stop me. I’m always saying “delay does not mean denial”. I’ve never been moved by what I see around me rather what I know to be.

I’ve also always been a planner. I had my entire wedding planned at 5 years old. From every detail, except of course the groom!
