Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Jimenez.
Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Jeremy Jimenez, I’m 23 years old from Baltimore, Maryland. I’m a Model, stylist, and photographer that has plans to be even more. I started modeling 4 years ago with IME Agency at Morgan State University. Since that, I’ve been in over 10 fashion shows with aspirations to be in many more. I started styling in 2020, mainly helping people express themselves through fashion and helping boost their self-esteem. I started Memoriesbyjerm in 2019 which is a photography company that uses instant photography to make memories for its customers. I currently work as a project engineer for a roofing construction company, which was my focus of study in school.
Modeling
– While in college I wanted to find something that would get me out of my shell and comfort zone, so I turned to model. I soon began to have a passion for modeling, and it has boosted my confidence, self-esteem, and sense of style. I have now has been modeling for over 4 years and been in over 10 fashion shows including shows like Models Inc: Tales of a Frozen Runway and Shardo’s, The Truth Fashion Show. I also have experience in print modeling as well, from doing various photoshoots with photographers well known in the DMV area. With plans to make a career out of modeling and venture off into acting as well, I plan to take the Modeling and acting industry by storm. Going to that model call that night in 2017 was one of the best decisions I made. It gave me a different perspective towards myself, my purpose, my view on fashion, and how I express myself.
Memoriesbyjerm
– One day I decided that I wanted to enhance the experience of going to an event. I believed that people should always have something to hold on to and remember in the future. This became the start of Memoriesbyjerm. I always warm my heart when people come up to me and tell me that still have pictures that I took of them from months and years ago.
Stylist
– I started styling in the middle of a pandemic, 2020 what a crazy year. Styling myself when I couldn’t showcase my work only further enhanced my skills, creativity, and passion. The purpose behind my styling is to help others express themselves and boost their self-esteem.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been some obstacles along the way. Being a plus-size model, there were times where it was hard looking for modeling opportunities as some potential opportunities were for smaller models. I feel like more recently there have been more opportunities lately for plus-size models like me and others. I go through my weight loss journey, there are challenges every day I’m taking it one step at a time. my biggest challenge is dealing with my parents. Growing up with Caribbean parents has always been a struggle because sometimes they are stuck in their ways. They do not agree with my sense of fashion and the things that I wear sometimes. It has sometimes gotten to the point where they have questioned my sexuality. My style is how I express myself and I feel like there are times where they want me to change to fit their standards. I know for me; I’m not going to change for anyone.
We’ve been impressed with Ironshore Contracting LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ironshore Contracting is a professional installer of flat and low slope roof systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and retail buildings. We also provide roof maintenance services in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. for key customers. you
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m not much of a risk-taker, but the risks that I have taken have from a fashion standpoint. Whether it’s wearing something outside of my comfort zone, wearing something that might rub someone the wrong way, and wearing certain a piece in a fashion show. I feel like taking risks builds courage and confidence. when you take that risk a lot of times you might feel a lot better moving forward. Another risk I took before was for a photoshoot. The photoshoot was for a clothing brand and we models were wearing underwear, just underwear. I was a little self-conscious at first while shooting but I got more confident as the shoot went on. when the pictures came out, I felt so proud of myself and the pictures came out so good.
