Conversations with Tiffany Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Thomas.

Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In all honesty, “heartbreak” led me to into opening HealHER. I was previously operating a loose-leaf tea company, which was extremely successful, but over time stopped bringing me joy. Add in a horrible breakup, and it was just a recipe for much-needed change. All I knew was that I wanted something new, untainted, something fresh, to come into my life. So, instead of waiting or depending on someone else to bring it, I decided to create it.

Writing has always been a love of mine, and in previous years, I used the late and great site called “Tumblr” as my writing space. So, when first thinking of what I wanted HealHER to be, I knew that I wanted and needed to create a platform that continue to allow to write openly, freely, and honestly about my healing journey and what that looked like for me, in real-time.

Aside from being a certified Master Community Herbalist, I am also a trained Level II Usui Reiki Practitioner. Reiki, along with positive affirmations, are both something that I incorporated in my own healing journey to help me through not only the Covid-19 Pandemic but also my anxiety and learning how to be more intentional and mindful about how I spend my time and where I invest my energy. Once I really examined how each of these things benefited me over the last couple of years, offering them as a service and incorporating them into my daily interactions to help other women become more in tune with their internal and spiritual well-being just made sense and felt authentically organic and right.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Smooth”?!? LOL, what is that? The short answer is “no”. I think two of the biggest challenges that I’ve been faced with is lack of understanding from those closest to me and really not being able to trust people with my visions, from a “graphic design” standpoint.

On the graphic design side of things, I‘ve literally had to learn how to do everything on my own. With the exception of my logo and website, I have become a full-time student of YouTube University and just figured things out as I went along. Everything that I’ve launched since my launch in March of 2020, I designed myself. From my social media content to my apparels designs down to my marketing ads, labels, and stickers, I did on my own. It was not only a test of my patience but also a test of the saying “How bad do you want this?”

From a personal standpoint, I would say that was initially a struggle because those closest to me couldn’t understand why I was walking away from my tea business. To some, it didn’t make sense, and I get it, but at the same time, I am a huge advocate for people doing whatever brings them happiness, even if that means not doing something aka “Walking Away”.

So, for me, having to re-establish myself as a business owner, re-gain the trust of my peers and/or clients, all while learning how to be a graphic designer, have been my biggest challenges.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Before opening HealHER, I was a blogger. I used Tumblr and I created an online safe space called, “MyNotSoPrivateDiary”. I used it as my online diary, to allow people see me grow through my 20s. I tackled various issues, such as navigating the world of dating as a single mother of two, being a Black Woman in Corporate America, and just whatever other growing pains came my way. From there, I took my love and passion for tea and decided to transition into opening a medicinal tea company called The RoyalTea Exchange.

After 5 years, I felt that The RoyalTea Exchange no longer served me or who I was without a doubt, becoming. I was transitioning and working through a major breakup and was on a journey of self-healing and rediscovery. I took a leap of faith, and at the beginning of a global pandemic, I launched HealHER. It has been by far one of the best decisions I could have ever made! As it [HealHER] truly embody everything that I am in and appreciate in others: transparency, integrity, and pure intentions.

I now serve as Master Community Herbalist, Mindfulness Mentor, Reiki Practitioner, as well as an Intuitive Oracle Reader within HealHER. My mission is to provide women, especially women of color, a safe and sacred space rooted in the foundation of acceptance and transmuting pain into intentional joy, but also working to honor ALL that they, and we as women are: Divine, Sacred, Holy, Loved. I wanted the women who gravitated to HealHER to feel seen and be heard.

What I think sets me apart is my ability to relate all of my lessons back to myself. I use my own stories be a story of trial and error or success, as teachable moments, as a way to create comfort, trust, and allow my followers to see that HealHER is a safe space to be soft, open, and free. I’ve found that so many find comfort in my willingness to be each of these things. It not only helps those who don’t know me personally gain a certain level of comfort and trust but also a sense of familiarity. This helps with creating and developing an organic connection and allowing for the chance to potential clients and to being working together, be it through mentoring or one of my one hand services. I really feel that I have cultivated my ability to lead through experience, not just by solely speaking hypothetically, but also from a personal place of “knowing”. I often joke with my friends and clients that “I made the mistakes so they won’t have to” and most days it continues to truly serve a true statement. So many of my clients express to me how they have benefited from my “hindsight is 20/20” point of view and how they were able to avoid painful lessons because of my transparency about my past. What I enjoy most about all of this that I am able to honest moments as an entry into giving other women the space need for them to lean into their own stories and find the courage to begin their healing journey.

What are your plans for the future?
I would love to be a TedTalk speaker as well as have my own podcast. I absolutely love talking about any and everything of substance with family, friends, and strangers. I would love to continue the conversations about healing, mindfulness, and beyond my Social Media platforms. I would love to be able to connect and speak with other women who have experienced loss of love and self, to remind them that they too are capable of healing, growing, loving again, without fear. Outside of those things, I really hope to one day have my own physical Healing Space, such as a brick and mortar. Currently, I primarily offer my services virtually due to Covid but would love the opportunity to be able to have and host women in an intimate space for face-to-face connection and a personalized healing experience.
