Exploring Life & Business with Veronica Sniscak of VSells & Associates of Compass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Sniscak.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My father hired me at 16 in 1996 to be his assistant for his Real Estate business while I was still in High School. He was a truck driver for much of my childhood so it was nice to be able to spend time with him while learning the industry. At 18 (you have to be at least 18!) I earned my Real Estate license and formally began my career as a realtor. Over the years I worked on several local teams including one of the largest in the area earning a spot as the top producer several years in a row. In October 2019 I went out on my own and started my own team – VSells & Associates. I have seen a lot in the industry over the past 25 years and I love the skill and knowledge I have gathered over the years. I feel being a leader is the perfect opportunity to help others in the industry succeed and grow and offer the same excellent experience to our clients. My team has 17 people and growing and we are a top producing team in Ellicott City. We were asked to join our brokerage Compass in November of 2020 and we are thrilled for what is ahead!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth, no! Over the years I went through a divorce which left me as a single mother of a 3-year-old and the divorce of my parents after 33 years. I went back to school to earn my master’s degree in 2009 because of the real estate market crash in 2008 — I needed a steady income! I somewhat re-started my Real Estate career in 2012 after working in corporate wellness and using the MS degree I earned. Once back in real estate my career took off and I joined a large local team. After working on the team for a few years I was asked by the team leader to start my own team within the larger team which I did. That lead to complications with not being able to actually lead a team and so I began asking questions and wondering if I should go out on my own.

Soon after this time period, my x-husband committed suicide which was very shocking to say the least, especially with our child. My x-husband was estranged from us for the most part but the impact was monumental as he was only 14 when it happened. Being a mother and trying to navigate this tragedy was paramount but my business was thriving at the same time.

This made me question a lot of things and as I continued to question running my team on my own, I was asked to leave the team by my team leader. While shocking this was exactly what I needed to move on with my team and career and I am so thankful they made that decision for me. Moving on to running my own team has certainly had its challenges but I have enjoyed each step so far. It’s interesting to me that sometimes struggles and challenges are exactly what you need in life to propel forward.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The ultimate goal of VSells & Associates is to provide stellar customer service and be convenient for clients all over Maryland!

Each agent on the team is hand-selected and provided top-of-the-line training and mentoring in order to gain the knowledge and experience needed to expertly help their clients throughout the real estate process. We also have a team of client care specialists that are involved in all of the details to make sure our clients are always up to date on the transaction and ensuring everything is managed professionally from start to finish. Servicing our clients at the highest level possible is our number one priority. We hope to build relationships that are long-lasting — way beyond the settlement table!

We are proud to be a part of Compass, one of the most innovative brokerages in the world. Being a part of this amazing brokerage gives us access to an enormous number of resources that we utilize to make our team the best it can be!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I would say luck has nothing to do with my life or business. I have had to make some very difficult decisions in life and business and I feel each one has led me to where I am today. I also work extremely hard each and every day to provide the best to my clients, family, and team members and I feel luck has nothing to do with it!
