Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Marshall Jr.
Hi Tim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Eagle Lens Media started in 2010. We started working with companies and organizations that needed assistance with getting their company noticed. So, we offered help and from that day we have grown. Opportunities throughout the years started to open to give Eagle Lens Media a chance in different platforms such as non-profit organizations, musical artists, corporate, and religious institutions. Fast forward to 2019 Covid has changed our company’s clientele. Due to the pandemic, we chose to Pivot and assist whoever needed direction from production to branding. And because of the Pivot, we surpassed our yearly goal with regards to margins and client population.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It indeed was a struggle as any business, there are ups and downs regarding building a business. When starting Eagle Lens Media, I had big dreams and visions for the company. But sometimes it felt as though the company was plateauing, and I began to lose momentum. But I had to also realize that building takes time. So, I had to understand that I had to place the vision of the company into action and to build to change my clientele. Some of the struggles that I’ve experienced were burnout, frustration, and learning balancing life.
As you know, we’re big fans of Eagle Lens Media. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Eagle Lens Media is a production company that establishes a creative process the allows the client to experience a product that is memorable, cutting edge, and timeless. No matter what the project demands we aim to make sure the vision is made clear and produced for our client. We provide services in video production (Live Streaming, Studio Filming, Live production, Content Creating, etc.), Photography, Graphic and Web Design, Marketing, and Strategies.
What sets us apart from others is that we treat the client as a client. Many filming and production companies treat clients as dollar signs. When we discuss the vision of our client, we place ourselves in the clients’ shoes and advise what’s best for the client. That is why our mission statement is “Vision Made Clear” because we want the vision of our client to be clear for the world to see.
We are proud of the growth that we have accomplished thus far. We have worked with so many great clients who have trusted us to carry out their vision such as;
Kennedy Krieger, Morgan State, BOOST Program (A Baltimore City Program), Erika Cole (The Church Attorney) Union Church, Ubiquitous Women’s Expo, Wink N Pout by Kym Lee (Celebrity Makeup Artist, Jason Nelson, MSI Integrative Healthcare, and so many more.
Eagle Lens Media wants our future clients to know that choosing us, you don’t just receive a production company to help push your business, but you have chosen a company that wants you to succeed. We want the world to know your vision and make that vision become clear for all to know.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are so many that have impacted and have become vital to the success of Eagle Lens Media. Eagle Lens Media would not be in existence without the support of Tim and Donita Marshall (my parents), Timia Marshall (Sister), and Lynette Pelzer (Mentor).
JJ McQueen saw a drive-in me and gave me my first camera (Canon XL2) to begin filming. He is also responsible for my first contracted client was taking place at the Baltimore Aquarium for a client’s birthday party. Without his push and giving me the tools, I do not think I would have ever gotten my start.
Tamara Hundley the graphic designer guru taught me the fundamentals of graphic designed and opened my eyes to branding. She taught and mentored me to help me understand why branding is important. She also trained me on Adobe Photoshop and taught me how to create my first digital flyer!!! She invested countless hours of teaching which is priceless and I am forever grateful.
Donald and Alberta Butler (Owners of Butler Squared) who are not only our accountants but are business and life mentors. They have helped me become a better individual overall. They have helped when I have experienced burnout and frustration. Everyone needs someone who pushes them but also tells you that is it ok to take a break when building.
Another Mentor who has helped push me to where I am now is Porter “PJ” Brown, Jr. The founder of Grumpy Panda Photography. He has supported and pushed me to not just become a better business owner but also a better creative. Many times, as creatives we can sometimes overthink what we are trying to create and can lose our creative processes and rhythm. He has taught me how to work within the proper boundaries of creating but also knowing how to push the limits correctly which sets you apart from the rest of the crowd. How to create what has not been created and not to be afraid of trying something new.
Lastly, My brother Tavon Lawrence. He has taught me how to better my craft and has granted me exposure in areas of production and I was able to learn under his company One Accord Productions. He has taught me the art of business.
I had a plethora of supporters such as my best friends and family and each of them has pushed me to accomplish what I have accomplished thus far.
