Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Jackson.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is very relatable to any person out there. So it all started from a class I took as a hobby. I took a class on how to make spa products. That class introduced me to handmade products and that is what started my journey.
After the class, I began experimenting & doing tons of research on handmade products. From searching the internet to youtube university, I was a sponge soaking up all the info. I was hooked, I made products for my family & friends. I thought to myself, I should share the products that I love & make with the world if im going to be spending money on this, So I did, and here I am today, and thats how Madeluv was started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No journey is perfect in my opinion. Of course, there are struggles along the way. I’m a one-woman show, so I do everything from making products, creating labels/ printing, social media, etc. It can definitely be hard trying to balance it all while being a single mom.
Funding also plays a role as well. If you dont have something, you just work with what you have until you can get it. There is still so much to learn.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make handmade bath & body products. I specialize in cold process soaps, bath bombs, body lotion/butter, bath salts, & lip care. I am most proud of having something to call my own and creating products. Creating products has been therapeutic for me.
I’ve always dreamed of being a business owner as a kid and here I am actually doing it!!! That makes me smile. What sets me apart from others is that I have a genuine love & passion for creating great quality products, each product is definitely made & packaged with love! I strive to give my customers an impressive experience and allow my passion to show through my quality of work.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
My view on risks is that they are everywhere in life and you must take them in any situation no matter how big or small. If you dont take risks, how will you ever know what works and what’s not.
Starting Madeluv was one of my biggest risks but I wouldn’t change it. I was scared of not knowing the outcome & what steps to take to get started. Once I said I was going to do it, I just did and it and didnt look back.
