Inspiring Conversations with Eden Hansom, Marie Nuon of Due Femmes pronounced “Doo-aye Fomme”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden Hansom, Marie Nuon.

Hi Eden Hansom, Marie Nuon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started in a classroom, not a boardroom.

We met as students in Capital Wine School’s WSET Level 3 program; two women pursuing serious wine credentials, and, as it turned out, the only women of color in the room. That recognition landed two ways at once: the thrill of an instant kinship, and the quiet reminder of how far the industry still has to go on representation.

Our backgrounds are night and day as well. Marie brought a fintech mind…sharp, analytical, built for structure. And Eden came from news and media, having cut her teeth at WMAR-ABC2, with a parallel life in beauty. But outside the classroom, studying together turned into something else entirely: tasting our way through DC, showing up at every pour-worthy event the city offered, comparing notes long after class ended.

Somewhere between the textbooks and the tasting rooms, we noticed a gap. Plenty of people were teaching wine. Plenty of people were throwing events. Almost no one was doing both in a unique way…treating wine education and cultural storytelling as the same act, told with a point of view instead of a script.

So we built it ourselves.

Due Femmes was never meant to host events. It was built to create experiences; the kind that don’t end when people leave the room, because they’re designed to be felt first and remembered forever. Today, that means working across the DMV and Italy, turning wine into a language for culture, connection, and stories worth telling twice.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! From collaborations that fell through to people not seeing the vision of certain experiences. But we still push because what we have going on, no one else is doing it like we are.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Due Femmes is a luxury wine and cultural experiences brand built on a simple belief: curated wines, UNFILTERED vibes.

Wine, as an industry, has a reputation problem. It can be stiff. Exclusive. The kind of room where people are afraid to ask a “stupid” question or admit they don’t know the difference between Nebbiolo and Nero d’Avola. We know that world well. We’re formally trained, WSET-credentialed, and still actively building our expertise. But that training is exactly what convinced us that there need to be more seats at the table.

What sets Due Femmes apart is the refusal to shame anyone for where they’re starting from. Come as you are, leave with knowledge and kinship…that’s not a tagline, it’s the operating principle. Every guest leaves the room a little more educated and a lot more connected, whether it’s their first glass of wine or their five-hundredth. We give that “un-hooked bra feeling.” Ladies know what we’re talking about. The feeling that you can finally breath feel unrestricted finally.”

The other thing that sets Due Femmes apart: nothing repeats. Every experience is built from scratch: new theme, new story, new format — because the goal was never to run events on a loop. It was to create moments people actually feel and remember.

That philosophy shows up across everything Due Femmes touches:

• Signature experiences for private clients and cultural institutions, always original, never templated
• Business consulting: staff training and private tastings for restaurants, hotels, and corporate clients who want their teams as fluent and unpretentious as Due Femmes’ own guests
• Intimate trips to Northern Italy: small, thoughtful, immersive travel through Piemonte’s wine country, built for real connection over checklist tourism

Any big plans?
All we can say for now is to continue being more visible but continue to keep the intimacy of our approach. We would say more but where’s the fun in that???? Plus, we’re waiting to release some really dope experiences soon but we must cross our T’s and dot our I’s first! Stay tuned though! Oh! Eden is now enrolled on the Italian Wine Scholar Guild program along with her Valpolicella certification (she’s also a Comité Certified Champagne specialist) and Marie is looking to embark on the French Wine Scholar Guild program but has decided which region to pursue yet.
