Hi Kevin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in East Baltimore from Elkader rd and Greenmount Ave and honestly, nobody around me really talked about money. Like investing, saving, any of that, it just wasn’t part of the conversation. And I got tired of watching people I care about struggle with stuff that, once you actually understand it, isn’t even that complicated. It’s just that nobody ever breaks it down for you.
So I started writing. My first book, The Baltimore Investor, was basically me explaining the stock market the way I wish someone had explained it to me. Candlesticks, stop-losses, all the stuff that sounds scary until it doesn’t. It went #1 in New Releases on Amazon, which honestly caught me off guard. That’s when I realized this wasn’t just my thing, people actually needed it. Then I wrote Views, which is more about mindset and personal growth, because I kept noticing the money stuff and the belief in yourself stuff are connected way more than people think.
After that I built NightHawk Capital Investments. I didn’t want the books to just sit there, I wanted something people could actually use. So now it’s got investing lessons for beginners, an AI coach, budgeting tools, journaling, and I do one on one coaching too.
That’s what I’m doing now, writing, teaching, running NightHawk, trying to make sure Baltimore has a real shot at this stuff instead of feeling locked out of it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, a lot of obstacles came from this. Mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, all of it. I had to build this in just a few months, and I wrote a lot of the code for my website myself. I was testing everything every night, trying to keep the rest of my life together while dealing with issues with loved ones and friends, and doing most of this by myself.
But I’ve always been someone who likes handling things on my own. I don’t really look for people to blame when things get hard. That’s just how I move and love it but I’m learning to opening up more and letting others in. you need a team behind you. a lot of love and balance.

NightHawk Capital Investments is a platform I built to teach people, especially beginners, how to actually understand the stock market and their money. It started as an idea from my books, but I turned it into something people can use every day. There’s education tracks that walk you through everything from what a stock even is, all the way up to day trading and long term investing. There’s an AI coach you can ask questions to anytime. There’s tools for budgeting, journaling, tracking your mindset, because I don’t think you can separate the money side from the mental side.
What I specialize in is breaking things down. A lot of financial content out there is made for people who already know the language. I write and teach for the person who doesn’t, the person who never had anyone explain it to them growing up, like I didn’t.
What sets me apart is that I built this myself, from the ground up, including a lot of the website and platform itself. It’s not some big company with a team behind it. It’s one person from Baltimore who decided to build the thing he needed when he was starting out.
What I’m most proud of, brand wise, is that everything connects back to real access. The books, the platform, the coaching sessions, all of it is built so people from Baltimore and anywhere else that gets overlooked can actually get in the door with this stuff.
What I want readers to know is that NightHawk isn’t just about picking stocks. It’s about building the mindset and the habits that let you stick with it long term. Discipline over emotion. That’s the whole philosophy behind it. And going forward, I want to grow into being a financial coach myself, working directly with people one on one, because I think that personal side of it, actually sitting with someone and walking through their situation, is just as important as the books and the platform.
What are your plans for the future?
Going forward, I want to grow NightHawk into more than just a platform people use on their own. I want to get more hands on, actually coaching people one on one, being a real financial coach for people who need that personal guidance and not just lessons on a screen. I think that’s the next big step for me.
I also want to keep writing. The books started this whole thing, so I don’t see myself stopping there. I’ve got more I want to say, especially around mindset, because I keep coming back to the fact that the money stuff and the belief in yourself stuff are tied together.
I’d also love to get in front of more people directly, whether that’s an interview, a podcast, anywhere I can really talk and connect. Especially to reach the youth. I want kids and young people coming up in Baltimore, and anywhere else, to hear that somebody who looks like them or came from where they came from actually did this, and that they can do it too. That’s a big part of why I want to keep telling this story, not just for me, but to give young people some hope and something to actually look up to.
Long term, I want NightHawk to actually be something Baltimore knows and trusts. Not just an app or a book somebody read once, but something people point to and say that helped me get my start. That’s really the big picture for me. Everything I’m building now is leading toward that.
