Hi Melody, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After completing Esthetician school and passing my state board exam I was so excited. I had an idea of having a “one stop shop” beauty salon. I remember when I leased my first suite. The feeling was so empowering! Unfortunately, it didn’t last long. I was trying to navigate building clientele, advancing my career, and moving back home to Baltimore. Since then I have moved suites, serviced clients from my own, and even took some time off. Over the years I have had trials, failures and success. Looking back it all was just a learning curve and each opportunity taught me something new. The vision of MB Beauty Bar never left. It just keeps refining and evolving with time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When you begin as a solo esthetician it is very humbling. There are so many things to consider. You have to create business accounts, manage social media content, marketing, building relationships, finding the perfect location, funding for supplies and equipment and the list goes on. As a one woman show, it can get very hard and tiring. It also can get discouraging when you are doing all the things and you don’t see it paying off instantly.

MB Beauty Bar is a beauty and skincare business. It started with my passion for helping others feel confident and comfortable in their skin. I specialize in corrective skincare and full-body waxing, offering personalized services designed to address each client’s individual skin and beauty needs.
What sets MB Beauty Bar apart is our commitment to personalized care, education, and intentional results. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every service begins with understanding the client’s needs, concerns, and goals so that we can create an experience and treatment plan that works specifically for them.
As a brand, I’m most proud of creating a space where beauty is about more than just appearance. It’s about confidence, self-care, and feeling good in your own skin. I offer a variety of services including customized facials, corrective skincare treatments, dermaplaning, LED treatments, body waxing, vajacial services, and carefully selected skincare and aftercare products.
At the heart of MB Beauty Bar is the belief that beauty is more than skin deep. My goal is to build genuine relationships with clients and help each person feel like the best version of themselves—one treatment at a time.
What does success mean to you?
I see success as having the courage to evolve. I’ve learned that I don’t have to choose just one path or limit myself to what I’ve already accomplished. I can continue learning, building, creating, and pursuing new opportunities. Ultimately, success is having the freedom and confidence to build a life I’m proud of—one that allows me to provide for myself and my family, make a meaningful impact, and still have the space to enjoy the life I worked so hard to create.
