Hi blk.kamii, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
around when i was 13, i started paying attention to the music my parents had been playing around me. i began listening to artists like Q-Tip, Raheem DeVaughn, The Pharcyde, and Dilla. At the time, the instrumentals spoke to me the most, and eventually that fascination led me to learn to make my own music, sampling pieces of songs i love. Making music quickly led me to learn different ways to create visuals and write about the music I love. as I’ve developed as an artist, my art has felt less centered on just my music and more focused on art and expression through visual, written, and musical mediums. black culture, love, nd my own personal experiences all fuel my creative expression.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
finding new ways to push my sound and style forward has been challenging at times. one thing that definitely helped was the realization that progress comes with time and the moments you spend away. sometimes you gotta live a little more life before you’re ready to really start that next big project.

i’m an artist that uses sample based production, video collages, and poems as a means of expression and storytelling. i love neosoul, hiphop, rnb, and anything else you can imagine i’d like from those 3. i’m known for my vhs style of videos and focus on the 3 genres i named earlier. i’m most proud of my progression as an artist. even if nobody else was to notice, im proud of how i’ve changed and grown over the years.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
one of the most important lessons i’ve learned on my journey is probably not to be so rigid, especially when it comes to creativity. there are rules you learn to help guide you in the beginning, but breaking those rules in a way that’s unique to you is what really sets you apart.
