Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberto Lara.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I picked up painting in 1993 in LA and was working there on random jobs until 1999. I later moved to Maryland in 2003 to start raising my family and what started as a side job eventually turned into my full time job. I kept getting recommended to different clients from previous jobs and it kept going from there. I was not only the owner but the only employee at that time. I would go to the job with my different brushes, rolls and paint alongside the lunch my wife had made for me for the day and I would work until the job got done. Over time I made different connections with local contractors and started to get busier to the point where I needed more hands to help me out. Fast forward to 2026 we don’t only handle paint but also General Carpentry, Construction, Garage and Concrete Flooring/ Polishing alongside with the Interior and Exterior Painting side still growing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been completely smooth road for many reasons. As we have got more business we have had to deal with more employees, contractors, designers, clients etc. which always requires patience, planning and ensuring every project goes well alongside ensuring the quality is top notch as always. Balancing being an owner, Husband, Father of 4 and a Pastor is not the easiest but it has taught me a lot. I cannot complain though the ride has not only been full of diffculties but also many memories and precious times that many would trade for, I have been blessed with knowledge, insight and given the opportunity to meet and know some many wonderful people on this journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We started as a painting business but have now expanded to different trades as well. The services we offer are general carpentry/ construction, Garage Coatings, Concrete polishing, Kitchen Cabinets as well as Interior and Exterior Painting. We are known for our strong work ethic and consistency among all of our projects and amongst our contractors who have used us for years and years. As Salvadorians we take a lot of pride in our work and make our life centered among that. We make sure that not only we do a good job but that the client is happy and satisfied with the work done. We have transformed countless homes for many people giving them a forever home. We are most proud of giving clients and their families what they were looking for and being part of the memory and history of the home.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We are a family owned business, everyone in our family plays or has played a role in our business which has helped us throughout the years and also works as the foundation for our business. Whether it be my wife ensuring the Work van tolls get paid, one of my other sons helping prep a job before the painting starts or even my other son who has stepped up to help with the operations of the business and ensuring all finances and jobs are running smoothly so I can focus on ensuring our quality stays as high as it has ever been. Without them a lot of this would not be possible.
