Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazman Fendall.
Hi Jazman, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
All things beauty just seemed to come naturally to me from a very young age. I remember using a curling iron to curl my Bratz doll’s hair, and looking back, I think that was one of the first things that sparked my interest in the beauty industry. I guess you could say it runs in my blood. My mom did hair for a while, and my aunt still does hair today, so I think I naturally caught the beauty bug from them.
For a while, I actually tried to run from it. After dropping out of college, I decided to stop fighting what I was naturally drawn to and pursue my passion for beauty. In 2014, I took a makeup artistry course and became certified, and about a year later, I attended cosmetology school to further develop my skills in hair.
After completing school, I worked in a few salons and also did freelance makeup. Although I enjoyed being creative and helping people feel beautiful, I eventually realized that the traditional salon and clientele-based environment wasn’t where I found the most fulfillment. I knew I loved beauty, but I also knew there had to be another way for me to use my creativity and share what I had learned.
During that time, I spent a lot of time on YouTube watching tutorials, learning new techniques, and being inspired by other beauty creators. Eventually, I realized I could combine two things I genuinely loved: beauty and creating. That was the beginning of my love for content creation.
I started filming makeup tutorials, hair content, and different beauty looks to show women that they could achieve these looks themselves. I found so much joy in teaching the techniques I had learned over the years and breaking them down in a way that made beauty feel approachable and achievable.
As I continued creating, I realized that what I loved most wasn’t just doing makeup or hair—it was the confidence that beauty could give someone. I love being able to teach women something new, encourage them to step outside of their comfort zones, and remind them that they don’t have to change who they are to feel beautiful.
Today, I’m continuing to grow as a content creator while also working as a federal employee. Balancing my career in the federal government with my passion for beauty and content creation has taught me a lot about discipline, consistency, and making time for the things I genuinely love. I’m proud that I’ve been able to create a space where I can continue pursuing my passion while building a career outside of the beauty industry.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This road has been far from smooth for me. One of my biggest struggles has been dealing with discouragement. Being in such a heavily saturated industry, it can be easy to look around and see other people doing what you do, growing faster, getting opportunities you hoped for, or seemingly having success overnight. If I’m not careful, I can find myself comparing my journey to someone else’s, and that can make me question whether I’m doing enough or whether I’m even on the right path.
I’ve also struggled with consistency at times, and I’ve realized that my lack of consistency can sometimes come from feeling discouraged. When I don’t see the growth or results I’m hoping for, it can be difficult to stay motivated and continue showing up.
What I’ve had to remind myself, though, is that my journey is not going to look like anyone else’s. I have to trust that what is meant for me will come in the right time and that I don’t have to rush my process because someone else is further along. I’m learning to focus less on comparison and more on becoming better than I was yesterday.
I’m still working on consistency and pushing through those moments of doubt, but I’ve learned that success isn’t always about how quickly you get somewhere. Sometimes it’s about continuing to show up, even when you’re not seeing the results yet. I’m learning to trust the process, stay encouraged, and remind myself that my time will come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is centered around beauty, creativity, and helping women feel confident in themselves. I’m a beauty content creator, certified makeup artist, and cosmetologist, and I specialize in creating beauty content that is both informative and approachable. I share makeup tutorials, hair content, beauty tips, techniques, and different looks that women can recreate themselves.
I think one of the things I’m becoming known for is making beauty feel achievable. I don’t want someone watching my content to feel like, “I could never do that.” I want them to feel like, “Okay, I can actually try this.” I enjoy breaking techniques down, sharing what I’ve learned throughout my years in the beauty industry, and showing that you don’t have to be a professional to create beautiful looks.
What I’m most proud of is the growth that has happened within me throughout this journey. I’m proud that I’ve continued to pursue something I love, even when I’ve experienced discouragement or questioned whether I was making an impact. I’m also proud of the fact that I’ve been able to turn a passion that started when I was a little girl playing with my Bratz doll’s hair into something that allows me to connect with and inspire other women.
What sets me apart is that I’m not trying to present beauty as perfection. I want my content to feel authentic, relatable, and attainable. I’m not just showing someone a finished makeup look or hairstyle; I want to teach them how to get there and encourage them to make it their own. My goal is for women to leave my content not only having learned something, but also feeling a little more confident than they did before they watched it.
Ultimately, I want my work to be about more than beauty. Beauty is the vehicle, but confidence is the message.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is to trust my own timing. I’ve had to learn that just because someone else’s journey looks different from mine doesn’t mean I’m behind.
It’s so easy, especially in the world of social media and content creation, to compare yourself to people who may have started around the same time as you or who seem to be accomplishing the things you’re working toward. I’ve definitely had moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough or wondered if I should be further along by now.
But I’ve learned that comparison can take away from the beauty of your own journey. There is a reason my path has looked the way it has, and every experienc, the successes, the disappointments, the moments of doubt, and even the times I stepped away, has taught me something and helped shape the person and creator I am today.
I’m learning that my job is to keep showing up, continue learning, stay true to who I am, and trust that what is meant for me will happen in the right time. I may not always see the results immediately, but that doesn’t mean the work I’m putting in is for nothing.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that I don’t have to become someone else to be successful. I just have to become the best version of myself. My journey is my own, and I’m learning to trust the process instead of rushing the destination.
