Inspiring Conversations with Darius T. Moore of Darius2L & 2Live Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius T. Moore.

Hi Darius, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started in Prince George’s County, Maryland, with a camera, a passion for storytelling, and a desire to create opportunities for myself. I began creating content at a young age and eventually built my presence online through YouTube, producing everything from skits and vlogs to entertainment and film-focused content. What started as simply making videos gradually developed into a serious interest in filmmaking and visual storytelling.

I went on to attend Morgan State University, where I earned my degree in Film & Media Production. During college, I was constantly creating. I would work on content from my dorm room while also traveling throughout Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and the USA, to gain experience on professional film and television sets. Those experiences allowed me to learn both sides of the industry—the independent creator side, where you often have to do everything yourself, and the professional production side, where every department and crew member plays a specific role.

Over the years, I expanded beyond being a content creator and developed professionally as a director, producer, cinematographer, photographer, and editor. I’ve had opportunities to contribute to productions connected with companies and networks such as Paramount, HBO, BET, LifeTime, VICE Studios, and Blue Ant Media, while continuing to build my own body of work independently.

That journey also led me to establish 2Live Network, my production brand. Through 2Live Network, I’ve been able to produce films, photography, branded content, and other media projects while collaborating with creatives throughout Maryland and the DMV. Some of my independent film work has gone on to receive distribution on platforms including Tubi and Apple TV, which showed me that stories created independently in our region can reach audiences far beyond where they started.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being a filmmaker today requires understanding more than just what happens behind the camera. I’ve expanded into marketing, branding, content strategy, distribution, and nonprofit work because all of those areas ultimately connect back to storytelling and building an audience. That experience has helped me understand not only how to create a project, but also how to position it and get people to actually see it.

Today, I’m continuing to grow as a filmmaker and entrepreneur while developing my latest feature film, *Guilty Conscience*, and expanding 2Live Network. I’m also focused on creating more opportunities for filmmakers and creatives in Maryland and the greater DMV area. Long term, I want to build something much larger than my own career—an ecosystem where independent filmmakers can create, collaborate, distribute their work, and eventually have physical spaces where audiences can experience those projects.

When I look back, the biggest constant has been creating. Whether I was making videos from my dorm room, working on someone else’s production, filming my own projects, or building a business around media, I’ve always found a way to keep moving forward. I’m still building, but each stage of the journey has brought me closer to the larger goal of creating stories, opportunities, and infrastructure for the next generation of filmmakers coming out of Maryland.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been trying to build the career I actually want while still working a traditional 9-to-5. I’ve worked under management teams where we didn’t always agree on how things should be done, so there have definitely been days where I’m sitting in a meeting thinking, “I have an entire movie to make, and somehow this is what I’m doing right now.”

The funny part is that clocking out of my regular job usually just means clocking into my real workload. I’ve been producing projects for other people, directing stage plays for other creatives, distributing projects to networks, taking on film and media work, livestreaming, and trying to stay connected to the original YouTube audience that supported me before filmmaking became such a major part of my career. At the same time, I’m producing and directing my own feature film, *Guilty Conscience*. Somewhere in between all of that, I’m also supposed to eat, sleep, answer text messages, and occasionally remember that weekends exist.

Then there’s maintaining a relationship with my girlfriend while doing all of this. So now I’m balancing a 9-to-5, filmmaking, producing, directing, YouTube, livestreaming, clients, deadlines, and a relationship. At this point, I don’t manage time—time manages me. My Google Calendar and my girlfriend are basically co-executive producers of my life.

There have been plenty of moments where I’ve questioned whether I’m doing too much, but I’ve also realized that every one of these experiences is teaching me something. Working jobs I don’t necessarily see myself doing forever reminds me why I’m building my own businesses. Producing and directing for other people teaches me how to become a better leader. Maintaining my original audience reminds me where I came from, and *Guilty Conscience* reminds me where I’m trying to go.

So no, the road hasn’t been smooth. It’s actually been a little chaotic. But I think that’s part of my story.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Darius2L & 2Live Network ?
I’ve built two connected brands: Darius2L and 2Live Network.

Darius2L is my entertainment and creator brand, focused on storytelling, original content, personality-driven media, and building an audience around my journey as a filmmaker and creative.

2Live Network is the production and business side, spanning filmmaking, cinematography, photography, branded content, mentorship, and distribution. I currently work with four nonprofit organizations and serve as a Digital Media Mentor to 21 apprentices.

Together, the vision is bigger than content. Darius2L builds the audience, while 2Live Network builds the productions, opportunities, and infrastructure behind it. My long-term goal is to strengthen the creative industry throughout the DMV—Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia by creating original films and series, developing other creatives, expanding into distribution, and building an ecosystem where DMV creatives are properly recognized and financially compensated for our stories, ideas, and work.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about the DMV is that the creative market still feels fresh and full of untapped potential. There’s incredible talent here, and to me, that means there’s still territory waiting to be conquered. I see an opportunity to help build something here rather than simply moving somewhere like Los Angeles or Atlanta and trying to fit into an industry that’s already established.

What I like least is the mentality and lack of organization that can sometimes hold our film community back. We have the locations, talent, crews, and stories, but we need stronger infrastructure and more collaboration to compete with major production markets. I also believe Maryland’s current film incentive structure, including limitations within the DECADE Act, can make it difficult to attract and sustain larger-budget productions. I’d love to see Maryland become a place where filmmakers don’t feel like they have to leave home to make something big.

That’s part of what excites me, though. I don’t just see what the DMV is missing—I see what it could become, and I want to be one of the people leading it into its next era. My goal isn’t simply to participate in the growth of the film and media industry here; I want to help set the standard, build the infrastructure, create the opportunities, and lead the DMV toward becoming a serious filmmaking market on a national level.
