Meet Sa’Miyah Noble of Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sa’Miyah Noble.

Hi Sa’Miyah , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started as early as 6. I loved fashion, braiding, drawing, taking pictures, and everything else I love today. I used to braid my friends and cousins hair and I had at least 2 manikins. I remember a time I cut my mother new cheetah curtains to make my little sister an outfit and got my ass whooped, my mother still talks about it today I had to be no older than 10. My mother is a hairstylist and a diva I grew up watching her and always thought of her as a superstar. She owns her own shop too so I was always surrounded by hairstylists and independent women. When I was younger me and my family were very tight we all stayed together majority of the time. My aunts, uncles, cousins everyone took care of each other. They were all so young, fashionable, and lit me and my sister loved being with our family. I’m an older sister, a second mother and I love it, I’ve always have. Everything I do is for my siblings. I wanna be someone they look up to and someone they can come to. I wanna show them that it is possible to be good, hardworking, honest and get somewhere far in life. My mother raised me without a father at the age I am now and all I can say is that she’s so strong! And now that I’m older I see that she did the best she could. With the help of my sisters grandmother my Nanna she raised 4 beautiful, talented, and bright kids.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I got older I got quieter, shyer, and more closed off. I dealt with depression since middle school and it was really severe. I was just always so sad and closed off about anything that was actually going on in my head. I only showed the bubbly happy me to everyone you would’ve never guessed unless you were extremely close to me. When I was in high school I was a loner I didn’t have much friends in school and ate lunch alone majority of the time. I actually used to skip school to do hair. I wasn’t very social I used to have anxiety attacks in school and the only thing that used to get me through was my sister. We’re only a year apart so we were always in school together. She was my bestie. At 18 I moved out of my mother house and in with my god mother and at 18 again I moved into my first apartment. This wasn’t easy but it really helped my mental health so much and I got to relearn myself. I am now more social and although I deal with depression from time to time it’s nowhere near how it used to be.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist and I love it! I started taking clients at 14 my IG handle was hairbytinkk😂😭 idk why that’s so funny to me. I’ve worked in a salon since 15 and got my first suite at 17. I love doing hair it’s everything that’s me. I love the talks, the movies, the music, and being in an environment full of hard working women. I’m so blessed to be able to fund my entire life with my hands. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to anything but hair oh boy I’ll do your hair all night till it looks how I like! My goal is for my work to look neat.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am very kind and bubbly. I want everyone around me to feel comfortable and safe. I love to laugh and it’s very contagious and people love that. I’m also a very calm person as well I don’t like anything chaotic. I believe all of that and my neat work keeps my clients coming back and helps me build good connections with people in every field.
