Conversations with Sean Collier Myers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Collier Myers.

Hi Sean Collier, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The only way I am who I am today is through trial & success/error, discipline, faith and support. From my first audition thinking acting would be cool, to now running a film company with our catalog streaming..I couldn’t have done any of it without the first sentence. Learning filmmaking has brought out more of my passion of the art than I realized. Seeing TV and film through the eyes of a director, gives me the advantage of knowing what “could be” while acting to create the best visuals for the project. This also gives me creative space to work with my actors on set, helping them deliver an unforgettable performance.
Throughout the years I’ve acted in multiple films, plays, shorts and series’. My look and language skill gives casting directors room to play as I can pull multiple ethnic characters which led to my lead debut, ‘A Mothers Daughter’, where I act as an abusive drug dealing boyfriend to reading scripture as Jesus for our local church. Background roles on indie to major productions is a must! This year alone I’ve visited sets like ‘Dexter Resurrection’ and ‘Elsbeth’, which were great learning experiences.
Faith plays a huge part of life in general, but in this industry it’s an absolute must. Understanding faith in yourself, your project and the path set before you will easily influence you to accomplish your goal. The power in faith makes all things possible.
The support team we’ve grown over the years, (including these articles starting in Miami) definitely helps me keep on the path. Giving genuine love and support will always come right back to you, and it’s been my intention to make everyone I meet feel valued and be seen. This in turn gives me opportunities all over the country, all because of who I am and who I am becoming. I am extremely grateful for all of those who are watching and supporting, thank you!
Taking things into my own hands, Collier Films will provide opportunity for those who are interested in film a chance to be seen, welcome and pushed to grow in their field. Currently we are working on our first feature film, following the success of our last 2 short films, and a new competition show based in Ocean City MD.
Keep reading, let’s connect and make some magic!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The only thing smooth about this road is my gimbal..and sometimes that gets bumpy!
I believe the best actors have to have an extreme comfortability with emotional intelligence. Knowing how feelings feel, being able to express them in a way that is raw and coming back to your center of who you are afterwards separates the strong from the needs improvement section. Life has a way of building that for you.
Some of my struggles have been defining moments of my life. Not having money to fly to ATL for my scenes in 2 days, or being behind on the learning curve of DaVinci, even having life outside of my passion crumble in my hands..All of these things showed me my strengths in discipline, tenacity and faith. Yes we found a way to ATL and nailed my part, yes I’ve learned grading & pacing on DaVinci where now all my content gets edited and yes I picked up the pieces that fell and turned them into ART. As my good brother and friend told me today, your mistakes may break you, but how you respond defines you. All of your struggles are not second thought worthy when you move with intention.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor and director. Known for bringing value to set in multiple ways including stunt choreography, 2nd cam, actors training, weapons training, set design up to editing and distribution. I am very proud of this because of the well roundedness I’m achieving. Every set, I often gain or offer thoughts since we are all passionate and actively studying the same thing.
As stated before, Collier Films is working on building our catalog into hub where everyone can watch something! We already have crime drama, horror, 2 rom coms available now and currently working on a sporting event benefit followed by a psychological thriller feature film. Outside of this we produce small business commercials & reels, skits, music videos, food content and event testimonials for Meet In The Wild. We are very excited to have and create opportunities around the country for independent artists and businesses.
Personally, I am happy to be a part of my previous work(www.imdb.me/seanc) where most of my recent appearances are streaming on CineFlicc TV, Amazon Prime, BET+, 4 Corners TV and Tubi! I’ve acted in my first international horror film premiering Nov 1st. right next to home in Washington DC, and put my bartending skills to work in another feature coming to theaters soon!
Very proud of my network. There are some incredibly talented and well rounded humans I can call for insight or conversation at anytime, outside of being together to create the films you will be watching. It is imperative to be around like minded groups or individuals in life and definitely for this industry. This insures the necessary growth for your emotional, mental and physical health.
I believe the quality that sets me apart the most is my calm nature. You must grow through what you go through and I also have been practicing Qi-Gong, a form of Tai Chi, for over a decade now(Facebook: Sean’s Qi-Gong). Constant practice helps me remain balanced and I can tell when I’ve skipped! I genuinely appreciate the comments of my peaceful presence and am inspired to do my best to be my best!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Life.
I’m very in the moment. Of course the future requires immense planning, until you get there fully live in the present. The fact that we all are here and have something to offer with each interaction is amazing. Granted, not everyone is for you, but at least you’ll learn something along the way. It’s a blessing to have family, friends, colleagues and pets that bring you joy each day.
