Hidden Gems: Meet Emily Goldstein of M Design LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Goldstein.

Hi Emily, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
More than 24 years ago, I started m design with a simple goal: to help businesses and organizations present themselves professionally through thoughtful, strategic design. What began as a graphic design business has grown into working with large and small businesses, nonprofits, schools and universities, associations, entrepreneurs, and communities across the country and around the world.

One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been watching clients succeed and grow. I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations as they launched new businesses, celebrated milestones, expanded their services, and evolved their brands. Whether creating a brand identity, designing a publication, building a website, or developing a marketing campaign, my focus has always been on designing with purpose—not simply following trends.

Today, I’m excited to be expanding into landscape design. While it may seem like a different direction, to me it’s a natural extension of what I’ve always loved—designing spaces and experiences that are both beautiful and functional. Whether I’m working on a brand or a landscape, the goal is the same: to create something meaningful that improves the way people experience a business, a place, or a space.

Looking back, I’m grateful that this career has allowed me to keep learning, adapting, and creating. After 24 years, I’m just as excited about helping clients bring their ideas to life as I was when I first opened my doors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—but I think that’s true for anyone who has been in the creative industry for more than two decades.

The biggest challenge has been keeping up with technology. When I started, the design world looked completely different. Since then, I’ve experienced the shift from traditional print production to digital media, the rise of the internet and social media, smartphones, and now the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence.

It seems like every few years, the industry reinvents itself, which means you’re constantly learning and adapting. I enjoy exploring new technology and finding better ways to serve my clients, but I’ve always known that technology is only a tool. It can never replace listening, understanding a client’s goals, and using creativity and experience to communicate their message effectively.

Looking back, I believe that’s one of the reasons I’ve been able to stay in business for so long. The tools have changed dramatically, but trust, communication, and strong human relationships never go out of style.

We’ve been impressed with M Design LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Design isn’t just what I do—it’s how I see the world.

At its core, m design helps businesses, organizations, and communities communicate who they are through thoughtful, strategic design. Every project is different because every client is different. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions, so I take the time to understand each client’s goals before the design process begins.

What sets m design apart is the personal approach. After more than 24 years, many of my clients have become long-term partners, and I’m grateful for the trust they’ve placed in me. They know they’ll receive honest advice, dependable service, and thoughtful design that’s created with their goals in mind—not simply something that looks nice. I never wanted to be the biggest design firm—I simply wanted to do great work, build lasting relationships, and be the person clients trusted to take their business to the next level.

I’m also proud that m design has continued to evolve. While graphic design remains the foundation of my business, I’m excited to be expanding into landscape design, bringing the same creative thinking and attention to detail to outdoor spaces.

If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s that good design isn’t about decoration—it’s about solving problems, building trust, and helping people communicate their value with confidence.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always the kid who loved organizing information, taking detailed notes, and creating charts and diagrams—even before I knew that was essentially graphic design. Looking back, I’ve always enjoyed finding ways to make information easier to understand and more visually engaging.

I was also very active in sports, and being part of a team taught me a lot about collaboration, communication, and working toward a common goal. Those experiences still influence how I work with clients today. I enjoy the human side of design—building relationships, solving problems together, and helping people succeed.
