Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Love.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story started back in 1998 when I created what I thought was my first and only company; LoverBoy Entertainment. I was a young 18 year old kid from West Baltimore with visions and dreams of becoming a boss. LoverBoy Entertainment was just a group of friends along with myself and I wanted to get into the nightlife. I held my very first event at a hotel in Catonsville where I truly fell in love with entertainment and nightlife. My Uncle “Dj Hollywood” also was very inspirational in the development of my love for Music, Dance and Good Vibes. Many years and parties later, I took my craft a little more serious. Changing my business name to Tainted Ink Modeling Group “TIMG”. TIMG was a local modeling group where I helped young men and women build confidence in themselves and demonstrate leadership. Our very first fashion show was in DC at a club called Club Fur. From there, we held hundreds of fashion shows throughout Baltimore, DC and Virginia sporting local fashions from all across the east coast. While maintaining our Nightlife status and our Fashion Shows we held many of Charity and family oriented events as well. With over 100 members in our company we grew to become a local powerhouse. A few years later, I knew my company needed to add more to help not only the business but the members grow and network; so I than self taught myself Photography (So the models could shoot without crazy cost) and Graphic Designs (so I could properly market and promote them and the business). After a lot of hard work, sacrifice and long nights TIMG continued to grow and prosper. However, I felt things were still missing, so with the advice and insight from a good friend, I learned how to print and create my own clothing brand called Dope Artist Apparel. With the addition of Dope Artist Apparel, I created apparel for our fashion shows, photoshoots, etc. helping us to keep everything in house. While I continued having events, throwing fashion shows, holding photoshoots, designing graphics and creating apparel for our shows, my passion for fashion continued to grow. Years later I eventually dissolved TIMG and Dope Artist Apparel and changed the name of my business to fit who I was and that’s when MikeloveMadeIt, LLC was born. Under the umbrella of one company, I continued to host events, photography, graphics and add more focus to my apparel printing business. Until this day MikeloveMadeIt is a brand that has withstood the test of time. Even during covid we continued to grow and expand. With well over 250,000 pieces of apparel printed over the years we still continue to take on new clients as well as giving our veteran clients the best we have to offer. It’s now going on year 29 and we continue to provide Photography, Product Photography, Graphic Design & Printing, Marketing & Promotional Materials, Website Development, Mentoring and recently added 3D Printing. Over the next 2 years there will be more. I have yet to reach the ceiling and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been plenty of obstacles and challenges along the way. Just to name a few; Covid was one of the biggest hurdles we had to endure. During covid a lot of people lost their jobs, were laid off and more. Hospitals were short on supplies as well. I took on the challenge of ordering crates of face mask from over seas at a time no one could get them, not even the state of Maryland. I took those mask and found ways to raise money for nurses and those who were struggling.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am self taught in Graphic Design, Custom Apparel Printing, Website Development, Photography, 3D Printing, Marketing and Promotion. My favorite thing to do is a toss up. I love creating designs for new clients and seeing the love they have not only for the design I created but the future they envisioned coming true. I am also deeply into creating custom apparel and recently 3D printing.
What sets us apart from others is our commitment to Quality Is King. Some larger companies tend to forget about quality and aim for quantity and that’s NEVER the case here. Having a happy client is always the goal. Not only that, we have been in business going on 29 years now and that alone is a hard task.
