Today we’d like to introduce you to Rory O’Donnell.
Hi Rory, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve known my brother Declan since I was 9 years old, and we grew up listening to the same music that our dad would play for us. When I got into playing guitar (around the age of 14), I included my little brothers on the journey.
After college, I met our drummer Paul, and after idolizing Cream for years, I wanted to have a power trio that sounded big. So Declan joined Paul and I, and that’s how things got started
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pretty smooth. Declan being my brother and a true talent has been such a blessing. There’s also great balance of personality in the band. Declan and I are melancholic, but Paul has more of a golden retriever mentality. We also sharpen each other’s taste.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re entertainers primarily through art. We’re aspire to be among the indie rock greats. We love making music and releasing it, and so to fund these projects we play out at bars in the DC area. Our album, Hello, and Bethesda EP are really polished presentations of what we can do. I think something that sets us apart is watching us fill a room with sound. You might think you hear a four or five piece band playing, but really its just us three finding ways to fill spaces, whether its an extra drum fill, rhythmic bass, or three part harmony hitting a listener in the face
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Inconvenience is adventure misunderstood.
