Conversations with Madison Mone’t J

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Mone’t J.

Hi Madison Mone’t , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At the age of 11, I was hospitalized for months, then finally diagnosed with an auto immune disease called Rheumatic fever. When the doctors defined the illness, the bacteria had already eaten at my joints and over 30 % of my heart was gone. I was put on a medication cycle that required a huge needle full of thick penicillin every 3 weeks and told I had a life expectancy of 22 Years old. As a little girl I was devastated, I had already started watching ” A different world” and couldn’t fathom dying just as life would be starting. My parents’ love for Jesus Christ and unwavering faith kept me grounded and close to Yah. They did not accept the diagnosis at all! They encouraged me to live and love to the fullest. I went to college when I was in High School and became a mother at 20 years old. That’s when it hit me like a ton of bricks. I knew I didn’t want to die on my child, so I petitioned the courts of heaven, asking for heavenly help to preserve and sustain me. I would pray hard and meditate on scripture before I went out seeking, that same year I became an herbalist and started to live a plant based vegan lifestyle dedicated to fasting and praying, that was over 10 years ago. Today, I’m blessed to say I’ve lived and loved past my diagnosis. I’m often examined by my physician to show his interns how vital I am despite my previous diagnosis. While motherhood is my first ministry, my purpose for being here is to spread joy. I believe it’s my destiny to fulfill and it’s my end of the bargain to hold up while God does the rest. I love using several mediums to fulfill my purpose: I prepare plant based meals that are surprisingly delicious and combat the perpetual illness in my community, I’m a theater and film actress, Stand-up Comedian, Singer, writer, director and producer. God’s grace got me where I am and will propel me to where I am going. I’m blessed to have a career in learning in development where I aid in the development of my peers via coaching and training. God created every lane that I am in. I still face worldly frustrations and loss but I’m so grateful to be ALIVE.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not smooth but Im still alive so I think its going very well. lol as stated previously I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease at a young age.

when I was 5 I drowned at Druid hill swim club and had my first NDE. I was too young to understand all the details that came with knowing God, but I KNEW God was real. After Child birth, my lungs collapsed and it wasn’t looking too good from my worldly eyes, so I shut them and meditated on the life God promised me. By God’s grace I’m still here.

I’ve been lied on by people I showed love too, Mistreated in social circles and in the workplace, Robbed, Overcame abusive relationships, Forgot who I was and almost lost myself. BUT GOD

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Im an Actress, known for comedic and emotional satire. Specializing in live action and improv. I’m most proud of me putting myself out there and showcasing my God given talents.

My mission to spread joy sets me apart. Im not selfishly motivated

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a mommy’s girl. Quiet and observant, slightly shy but always a defender of the under dog. I Did not like mean people and was known to bully the bullies. I was very competitive but would shy away from being the best if it came in between potential friendships. I was a people pleaser. My parents helped me break that cycle.
