Meet Patrick Kurowski of MarketKeep

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Kurowski.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story in digital marketing started back in 2011 in a pretty unexpected way. I was hired as an intern for a sports company in Philadelphia, and because I happened to have the only computer in the office capable of editing video, I suddenly found myself responsible for the website, social media accounts, and digital marketing strategy. It was completely unplanned, but I fell in love with it immediately.

After graduating from St. Joseph’s University in 2013, I took on a few roles working alongside small business owners, and that experience made two things clear: I had a genuine passion for this work, and I was good at it. Small businesses, in particular, felt like the right fit. They have so much to gain from smart digital marketing, and yet so many of them are underserved.

That realization led me to found MarketKeep in 2016. The mission was straightforward: help small business owners plan, place, and optimize their digital marketing strategies in a way that actually moves the needle for them. What started as a one-person operation with three clients has grown into an agency that has worked with over 500 clients across the United States.

It has been quite the adventure and honestly, I have loved every minute of it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, and I would not have it any other way.

Since founding MarketKeep, we have navigated a global pandemic and the rapid, industry-reshaping rise of AI in everyday life. Those alone would be enough to test any small business. But layered on top of that are the quieter, more personal challenges that every entrepreneur faces — managing people, losing clients, making the wrong call, and figuring out how to keep growing when the ground keeps shifting beneath you.

But I have always believed that without struggle there is no change, and without change there is no growth. Every obstacle whether it was COVID grinding business to a halt, AI rewriting the rules of our industry overnight, or an internal challenge I had to work through each challenge has made MarketKeep stronger and made me a better operator and leader.

There is actually a quote I printed out years ago that still hangs on my office wall. It reads: “In the day of prosperity, adversity is forgotten, and in the day of adversity, prosperity is not remembered.” It is a reminder to stay present and to not get too comfortable when things are good, and not to lose perspective when things get hard.

That mindset shapes how I approach every single day. I am always looking for the opportunity inside the obstacle since it is a chance to grow, get better, and keep moving forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MarketKeep?
MarketKeep is a digital marketing agency built specifically for small businesses. At our core, we help clients connect with their customers in the moments that matter most. Whether that is showing up at the top of a Google search, running a paid ad campaign that actually converts, or having a website that turns visitors into leads.

Our services span website design, search engine optimization, and paid digital marketing strategy, but what ties everything together is the way we approach the work. We do not believe in keeping clients at arm’s length from their own data. We lean into analytics and research, and we make our entire thought process transparent. Every recommendation we make is backed by data, and every client we work with is invited to be an active partner in that process.

That collaborative approach is what sets us apart. When clients understand the why behind the strategy, the work becomes more intentional, more focused, and ultimately more effective. It also builds a level of trust that I think is rare in this industry.

What I am most proud of, brand wise, is the reputation we have built for being straight with people. Small business owners have been burned before by agencies that overpromise, underdeliver, and hide behind vague reports. MarketKeep exists to be the opposite of that. We are a partner, not a vendor, and I think that distinction matters deeply to the clients who choose to work with us.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Every day I try to answer one simple question: Was I the best today?

It might sound like a cliche, but I mean it genuinely. Was I the best husband I could be? The best father? The best boss or colleague? Did I do something today that actually moved the needle for my clients?

Those questions follow me throughout the day, and honestly, I think that is a good thing. They keep me honest. They keep me present. And when I can look back at the end of the day and feel like I showed up fully in the roles that matter most to me, that is where the real satisfaction comes from.

It is not about being perfect. It is about being intentional. About becoming a slightly better version of myself today than I was yesterday, as a professional, as a leader, and as a person.

That pursuit is what makes me happy. It keeps me motivated, keeps me hungry, and keeps me moving toward something bigger. I think when you stop asking that question, when you get comfortable with “good enough,” that is when you stop growing. And for me, growth is not optional. It is just how I am wired.
