Meet Savinder Jaspal of DC & Surrounding Areas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savinder Jaspal.

Hi Savinder, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My father started me in photography. When I was young he would get all kinds of cameras from auctions and we would work to bring them back to life. We did photography for all sorts of events from wedding to the Stawberry Festival where I grew up. I even did a photography camp at the local college. My love for photography continued through the years and led to the start of my business where I have branched out to more video work and drone photography as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part it has been fairly smooth. But as I have a full time job juggling opportunities for photography events between work and family does present difficulties at times.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Along with photography and videography I offer several printing services mainly up to poster size prints but I also go dye sublimation on shirts plaques and slate. That along with laser engraving rounds out a fairly large area of customized items offered. Which allows to provide unique items for my customers.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
As a photographer I live and breathe through adobe light room. And some photoshop though I try to capture the image right the first time to minimize the photoshop work one pictures. For video work it’s between Final Cut for drone and smaller projects. And davinci resolve for the larger higher resolution work. Currently I can video in up to 6k. So those files are massive to work with. I strictly work on Macs as I have destroyed to many windows machine doing video work.

Pricing:

  • Standar photography is around $100 an hour for field photography
  • Studio photography starts at $150 an hour
  • Videography starts at $500 and varies according to the event
  • Dye sub and laser work varies by project but starts at $20 and up
