Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pryor.
Hi Nicole , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The highest form of success is not what you achieve for yourself, but how many lives are transformed because you chose to serve.”
My journey has always been centered around one thing serving people.
I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and one of the greatest lessons I have learned is that your geographical location has nothing to do with your purpose and calling. Purpose is not determined by where you start, but by your willingness to answer the assignment God has placed on your life.
My professional journey began in education, where I served as a teacher within Baltimore City Public Schools, working with children and families throughout the Baltimore area. My passion for helping others led me to pursue higher education at Morgan State University, where I became a two-time graduate, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master of Social Work (MSW).
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to mentoring youth, connecting families to resources, and helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. Today, I am employed with Baltimore City Child Welfare, where I continue to advocate for children and families while walking alongside them during some of their most difficult seasons.
My desire to create lasting change also inspired me to continue my education. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration at Virginia University of Lynchburg, where I am further developing the skills needed to lead, serve, and impact communities on a broader scale.
While my career has been rooted in service, my ministry assignment has always been connected to the same mission. I believe God has called me to be a bridge helping people move from where they are to where they are destined to be.
As a mother and divorcee, I experienced firsthand the challenges of rebuilding life after disappointment. Those experiences led me to launch an organization originally designed to support divorced individuals by connecting them to housing resources, employment opportunities, credit repair services, therapy, and community support. What began as one vision evolved into something much greater.
Today, that organization is known as The Bridge to More, LLC, a nonprofit organization located in Pikesville, Maryland. Through The Bridge to More, we provide community outreach and supportive services including mentoring, resource navigation, clothing drives, coat drives, bike giveaways, school supply drives, family support services, workforce development resources, mental health referrals, and community empowerment initiatives. The organization is now expanding into the mental health field with the vision of providing accessible behavioral health services and holistic support to individuals and families.
In addition to my work in social services and community outreach, I am also the author of The Pause in Your Process, a book that shares lessons from my own journey of healing, faith, resilience, and personal growth.
While I wear many titles social worker, doctoral student, author, nonprofit founder, mentor, and mother the title I cherish most is servant. I believe servant leadership is not about position; it is about purpose. Every chapter of my life has reinforced my calling to connect people from one place in their lives to the next and to remind them that there is always more on the other side of their journey.
My story is still being written, but if there is one thing I hope people take away, it is this: your circumstances do not determine your destiny. When faith, purpose, and service come together, God can use your experiences to build a bridge for someone else.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the woman I am today.
One of the most difficult seasons of my life was losing my father during my freshman year at Morgan State University. At a time when I was trying to navigate adulthood, college, and my future, I was also grieving one of the most significant losses of my life. There were moments when I questioned whether I could continue, but I was determined not to let my circumstances define my future.
As a first-generation college graduate in my immediate family, I understood that earning my degrees was about more than personal achievement it was about changing the trajectory of my family’s future. I wanted to break generational cycles and show my son, nieces, nephews, and future generations that they are not limited by where they come from.
There were also challenges that came with balancing motherhood, career responsibilities, ministry, financial obstacles, divorce, and pursuing higher education. Many times, I had to keep moving forward while carrying the weight of personal struggles that no one else could see.
Through it all, I learned that resilience is built in difficult seasons. Every setback became a setup for growth. Every obstacle strengthened my faith and determination.
Today, my mission is bigger than me. I want my son, nieces, nephews, and every young person I encounter to know that nothing is unattainable. No dream is too big, no goal is too far away, and no circumstance has the final say over your future. If I can overcome adversity and continue pursuing purpose, then they can too. My life is a testament that with faith, perseverance, and hard work, it is possible to rise above challenges and create a legacy that changes generations.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally, I am a social worker, child welfare professional, nonprofit founder, author, and doctoral student dedicated to serving individuals and families. I currently work with Baltimore City Child Welfare, specializing in family support, resource coordination, advocacy, and helping families navigate challenges while promoting safety and stability.
I am also the founder of The Bridge to More, a nonprofit organization focused on connecting individuals to resources, community support, mental health services, workforce development, and outreach initiatives.
What I am most proud of is my ability to turn my personal experiences into purpose and create pathways for others to succeed. I am known for being a servant leader, mentor, and connector someone who helps bridge the gap between where people are and where they desire to be. What sets me apart is my unique ability to blend professional expertise, lived experience, faith, and community service to help transform lives.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe my journey has been shaped by luck. I believe it has been guided by divine appointments and the hand of God. Throughout my life, there have been moments that seemed like setbacks, disappointments, and closed doors, but looking back, I can see that every experience was preparing me for my next assignment.
My faith has taught me that all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. What some may call luck, I call God’s timing, favor, and providence. Every opportunity, connection, challenge, and breakthrough has played a role in shaping who I am today and positioning me to serve others more effectively. I believe purpose is intentional, and my journey is a testament that God can use every season good and bad for His greater plan.
