Meet Aster Soluna of DC & Surrounding Areas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aster Soluna.

Hi Aster, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We’ll have to go back quite a ways. When I was younger, I was one of those kids that loved to read. I would frequent the local library on the weekends and eventually, a small, tucked away section called out to me. It started with books on mythology, and eventually I found myself in the world of the occult, palmistry, divination, and symbolism. At 13, I only wanted one gift for my birthday: a Tarot deck.

Since then, I have developed a life-long relationship with this tool, growing my skills into healing, astrology, numerology, ritual leading, and even perfumery. Everything goes back to the spirit of connecting to something bigger than myself.

Tarot has always been there for me as a way to understand my emotions, my thoughts, and how to sort through the myriad of choices we have to make in life. Throughout my late teens and early twenties, I continued to develop this skill and realized how helpful it was for other people. I started charging for readings, friends started recommending me, and I became sort of an underground resource for my social network.

I was reiki trained in 2013, and that really opened me up energetically. My clairaudience and clairvoyance turned on fully, and I was able to understand the Tarot in a way I hadn’t before. I found it amazing that in just the span of an hour, I could help change someone’s perspective about a challenging situation, assist them in making a difficult choice or motivate them to make an important change. And even just opening up a space to listen can provide so much comfort to a stranger.

It feels good to be a voice for something older than our current system and to help people make connections to something bigger than themselves, whether that’s spiritual influences or their higher self.

In 2023, I moved to the DMV, and at the same time I decided I was going to make spirituality my full time job. I was hired as a psychic at one of the premier metaphysical stores in Old Town Alexandria at the time. The owners have since retired, and their business went with them. Luckily, I had established a solid following in the area. My previous clients sent friends and family my way and widened my network, reading by reading. Since then, I have found myself doing more events, private parties, and long-term spiritual coaching than I ever thought was possible.

It seems the more I trust, the more I am supported. That’s something I have been learning on this dance of a journey. If you trust your authentic self enough, you become who you were always meant to be.

The past two years, I have also co-launched the Three Cups Circle monthly digest. It is for those curious about metaphysics, spirituality, and philosophy. Together, we write about elements, planets, tarot, and how we are navigating reality through the lens of spiritual practice and personal stories. We also run Reiki sound baths once a month in Old Town Alexandria to help us through these trying times … one session, one topic at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the primary struggle in my current career path is how few established, or indeed reputable, avenues exist to be a spiritually gifted person in this century. It is a niche market whose very worth is hotly debated — in a world of telephone psychics, how do I go about providing my services when most require proof first? I don’t know where I would be without social media, in this respect, but keeping up with that often feels like its own job.

This is why referrals are so vital, by the way. My saving grace is previous clients who have had an incredible experience with me, and are kind enough to bring others who need support. Sometimes I end up seeing an entire family! (One at a time, of course.)

The other current challenge lies in not having a home base: trying to run continuous or coherent operations out of any number of tangential locations, like yoga studios or recurring community venues. The incredible availability offered by digital/online communications has been a game-changer for offering readings to anyone, anywhere in the country, but I honestly miss being an in-house tarot reader for an established spiritual shop. I wish we could revive that experience, but a brick-and-mortar location isn’t a possibility right now … and may never be, sadly.

But, I find a “smooth road” is more a state of mind than an experienced reality.

Smooth implies no bumps along the way. The thing is, there will always be bumps. When you drive along the road, if you have a good suspension you don’t feel bumps as much. I like to equate mindfulness to having a good suspension. If you breathe, and are mindful through your lived experience, you can encounter bumps without having a catastrophic reaction to them.

So, while I have encountered many worries, and have had stressful moments — owning your own business is not easy! — I find a way to make the journey easier is by breathing, staying in the moment and holding on to gratitude.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I give Psychic Tarot readings.

(I know. You don’t hear that every day! It took me a while to get used to saying that without feeling a little crazy).

My specialty as a Tarot reader is translation. Using multiple tools and perspectives, I translate messages from your physical body, mental field, emotional self, and spiritual guides. Using this information, I can help you lock in to your highest timeline, make a decision, or find alignment and healing within the self or situation.

Sometimes, its reassurance. Other times, its navigating potential divorce.

I help people reorganize their psychic body and create perspective shifts to help them feel aligned and confident on their current path.

There are many experiences around you, all a half-step away. Think Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. All of your experiences are in one room at all times.

I help you see yourself for everything you have been, are, or could be, and I do my best work at the intersection of reality and potential. I give words to the energies around you, help you name them, understand them, and dive back into the All. I am a bridge to the spirit world, something bigger and older than all of this.

Occasionally, the spirits of loved ones come through with specific messages. I never really know what is going to come through until it does, which makes every session its own kind of magical. My own (ongoing) journey with developing my abilities also allows me to guide others, helping them tune into their natural gifts and develop discernment through 1:1 coaching.

In the spirit of my favorite X-Man, I carry one essential bit of wisdom with me at all times:

“Fate deals the cards, but you choose how to play them.”

In my readings, nothing is locked into place—we choose our lives. If life is a game, I walk you though all the moving pieces and then we strategize. And for every reading, that may look a little different:

What sets me apart from others is my ability to switch gears mid-reading. My readings are holistic. I like to start with Tarot, but if you ask a question about timing, we might switch to astrology. If you become emotionally charged, I might perform reiki. My life has been a series of events designed to assist me with understanding the needs of the client. I’m so thankful for all of the separate studies I have learned so far, and I love seeing everything come together at this time in my life.

I recall a long term client who said she knew I was the real deal the moment I had someone have an emotional realization mid-class. I went over to her and assisted her with reiki, while continuing the class. She was so impressed with my ability to hold space and keep the show rolling that she knew she wanted to learn from me.

I am most proud of moments like this. Where spirit takes over and allows me to help people find real, life-long benefits that I may never see.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Step One?

1. Find a mentor in everyone. Every person in your life knows more about something than you do. Listen. Observe. Your relationships are mentorships. Your friends are your mentors. Your family is a teacher. (Often, the most dramatic!)

2. This includes your family of animals, land, plants. You’d be surprised how much you can learn from growing a plant. The niche and behavior of an animal can inspire a significant feeling within you, and make you reflect on your purpose. Nature itself is a mentor. In an ideal world, She is the primary mentor.

3. … Because your relationship to nature is your relationship to your intuition. Your inner mentor, named the Higher Self, is the best mentor available to you, but it takes time to learn to listen to this voice. When you do, your authenticity becomes your guiding light. When you learn yourself like an art form practiced daily, and you offer the same deep love to yourself as you do to others, you are so much more likely to find your desired role in community.

On my path, nature is my greatest mentor. One example of this is that every year I adopt an animal mentor. This year is Tortoise. Slowly, I learn his teachings throughout the year, meditating on how I can embody his spirit. What does he have to teach? How can I bring him into my current struggles and triumphs alike?

Additionally, you have spirit mentors all around you. Some call these your guides, and this is another rabbit hole we could go down. In short, your guides are the spirits around you that want the best for you. But in order to listen to them, you first have to discover the above. My work as a psychic is primarily to translate for them.

The other (more mundane) answer is that your support network will form the more you embrace yourself and say yes to opportunity, but you have to know who you are to find your “yes.” Heal your relationship to your self, then let your energy guide you. As you do so, you will find the people you are meant to know and work with. The more you know yourself, and the more you put yourself in the same room as similar dreamers, the more you can begin to co-create reality.

Short answer?

Know thyself.

Then allow that self to be seen.

The right people will see you, and you can create from there.

Bonus: Your natal chart is also a mentor! Getting a good reading can help you find your strengths, weaknesses, and how to develop on your path.
