Daily Inspiration: Meet Eean Logan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eean Logan.

Hi Eean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a native Baltimorean, the proud product of a single-mother household, a father, a public health professional, a certified driving instructor, and the founder of I Got Drive. Honestly, getting to where I am today started with a deep dive into self-discovery. I had to analyze who I was as a human being, a son, a brother, a father, and a soon-to-be husband. I had to evaluate every relationship I had, and wanted to have, then figure out the steps to build them.
I definitely don’t have it 100% figured out yet, but I’m well past the halfway mark and constantly moving the needle. That internal work gave me the foundation to set enormous, yet realistic, goals like taking the steps to open a Maryland MVA-certified driving school and a non-profit foundation. My goal is to help community members obtain their licenses while showing them the lifelong economic and personal benefits of having one. The I Got Drive Foundation still has a lot of road ahead to reach our long-term vision, but we are well on our way. Just like my organization, I am always growing as a founder and a leader. Even when I’m leading, I am still a student, learning new things every single day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t call it a smooth road, but I also wouldn’t say it’s been terribly bumpy. It’s more like a downtown Baltimore road undergoing heavy construction and new development. Traffic and unforeseen detours are just part of the territory, and you have to expect them. That’s the exact advice I give to my students: if you expect to drive, expect traffic. If you plan on doing anything meaningful in this world, don’t expect smooth sailing. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Or, as my daughter has been teaching me lately: “Practice makes progress,” and that is so much better than perfect.
My personal struggles have mostly centered around overcoming self-doubt and navigating what I didn’t know. In the beginning, I didn’t always have the confidence to ask for help when facing complex bureaucratic systems that felt like insurmountable barriers. Curing that doubt and learning to ask for guidance is what ultimately helped me break through the red tape that tries to slow down my progress.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself a creator; my medium is social design and community organizing. Professionally, I’m probably best known for co-founding the BaltimoreVotes Coalition and helping shape the vision for what it is today. In 2018, we registered over 1,000 high school students to vote, hosted over 90 community parties on Election Day, and distributed over $75,000 to boost voter turnout. To this day, that organization continues to recruit the youngest community leaders to motivate their peers to engage in civic culture early.
I was able to carry that same organizing framework into my work with the No Boundaries Coalition, specifically with the Youth Organizers and Block Captains. We’ve graduated over 100 young people and community leaders through the Block Captains Boot Camp curriculum. I’ve worked with countless partners across West Baltimore to ensure the community’s voice is always heard. Now, I am taking that same grassroots, community-empowerment approach and applying it to vehicle access and economic mobility through I Got Drive. I am most proud of the relationships I’ve been able to build and the lives I’ve been able to impact because these same people have always poured right back into me. I can look back and draw strength from the kind words of encouragement and inspiration I’ve received from every path I’ve crossed. This is how we change the world: by being deeply connected to one another and impacting each other’s lives in meaningful ways. I’m proud to be a part of my community in this way and to have people acknowledge the work we are doing at the Foundation. What sets me apart is that I view business and public health through the lens of a village.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t really attribute my journey to “luck.” I believe more in the universe, the Man upstairs, and the power of manifestation. The more I’ve been able to reduce doubt and constantly practice visualizing my most desired outcomes, whether that is founding a business, or describing exactly how our organization will change lives, the more those things become reality.
For example, I once almost talked myself out of applying to a major accelerator program. I practically missed the application window on purpose because of some internal doubt. But to my good fortune, when I finally checked my email on a Sunday, the deadline had been extended. Around that same time, I ran into an old friend who happened to be the director of the program, and they personally encouraged me to apply. It felt like fate. That momentum didn’t stop there. I ultimately ended up winning 1st place and the grand prize for my cohort. I am still incredibly grateful to the universe for putting me in alignment with this opportunity. Again, the more you believe, the more you manifest, and the more you will achieve.
