Hi Davia Ford and Emily Haman, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Being former professional ballet dancers, we met each other five years ago in the company that we previously danced for. Shortly after leaving the ballet world, we both decided that we wanted to continue on a path of creativity and bringing a love for something else to life. With our Christian faith being a strong part of both of our lives, we wanted to create a company and space that honors the beautiful covenant of marriage that God made while also showcasing our personal talents. We want to have a personal connection with each couple that we encounter and make their love feel special.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While starting the business and both having full-times jobs, working over 40hrs a week can be draining at times. When it’s something that you’re both passionate about, it’s so rewarding knowing that you get to be apart of the planning process and memories of a couple’s special day. Being part of such a special chapter in people’s lives is incredibly fulfilling.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a duo team of wedding planners that offer full-service planning, partial planning and day-of coordination packages. We specialize in creating elegant and personalized wedding events that reflect each couple’s vision. We each have special talents that compliment one another while working collaboratively with our couples. Davia is the artistic, hopeful romantic who enjoys being the anchor behind the design and creative process, ensuring that each wedding is unique to the couple. Emily is the business expert who loves the organizational process and making sure everything is on track and running smoothly. We’re most proud of the way that we work together not only as business partners but as close friends that trust each other. One of the things that sets us apart, is you’re not just getting one expert planner but two dedicated planners handling your wedding day. We also offer custom design and party planning services, including save-the dates, invitations and personalized signage graphics as well as bridal and engagement parties that are an extension of the wedding experience we’re helping you create.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Aside from our cute orange kitties, what makes us happy is being apart of something bigger than just us. We believe that God put us in this position to be a light in the wedding world, that can often lose the focus of what weddings are all about in the midst of planning, vendors and guest lists. It’s more than just a day but the beginning of a life together.
