Today we’d like to introduce you to Young AD.
Hi Young, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing ball, my father was a rapper out of NYC, and I remember him playing demos and beats he had used and recorded on, overtime I gravitated towards music just hearing what he does. recognizing the melodies and studying the game paying attention to all the hot artists. I’m a recording artist coming from Jamaica Queens, NY but has grown up in the Maryland area. I feel like i made plenty of buzz in surrounding areas & cities with my unique sound. i Moved to Baltimore at age 15 which then started my rap journey, gaining inspiration i have always put my talent on display and hope my journey of who i was to who i am becoming is an inspiration in itself.
Starting at an early age, i Started writing music at age 14. Nothing but Melodies & Just creating a rhyme scheme I could follow and master eventually. I Really studied rap, how to make it, what sounds great vs what sounds bad, even studied some artists and eventually somewhat the business. I took real notes on stage presence, how to be coachable and knowing what i could bring to the table.
My commitment to the booth led to early opportunities, where he performed alongside Philly Rapper & Roc Nation Artist Freeway, he was also put into show line ups alongside other Rappers such as Junior Mafia’s lil Cease & Baltimore’s very own Rappers like Yung Easy & Dee Dave. His last project is titled “Believe it” with 8 tracks & one featured artist, Concrete family’s own “DontKallMeLuxxy” that was a project that consist of some producers such as Chance Brazeal, Sogimura , Track Smith, & Hp Wave.
“I don’t do it for money, I have a passion for this and I love my craft. I know the end goal is to eventually make your money but ultimately I wouldn’t trade it for anything else as long as I can help people with my music and stick to my roots. I still have time to grow and learn. Life is a process but once you figure it out everything comes back full circle” You can find AD’s music on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth but i do have to accept the bad that comes with the good. Sometimes moving around in a aera but not necessarily being from that area comes with obstacles and challenges. I had to really move smart and moving smart starts with thinking smart. Certain artists and producers may not get your idea or may not see where you know you’re headed but that’s where you just have to stay leveled. Starting off it was hard getting shows, hard getting the next person to hear your song even if it’s for 10 seconds, hard to get DJs to throw you in the club or on playlists it’s hard for sure. it’ll be more people you’ll have to convince then people already believing but that’s where the REAL work shows. Just make them believe.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an artist, I think my music would be somewhat therapy for others. Especially people that can relate to me. I specialize in melodies and fining myself in that flow state. As soon as I hear a beat I pretty much lay out in my head, I love music I don’t even know where I’d be for real for real without it. I’m just grateful i can share my stories with others. One thing I’m most proud about myself is how far i came, how much work i put in. I jumped out there and really connected with other artist producers and DJs. Built some great relationships. Staying humble and remaining there goes a long way.
How do you think about luck?
It played a huge role in my life and business. When you get out there and move around in the industry you start to see a lot of things for what it is, and you can’t control everything. I’m super blessed to be able to just showcase my talents. Working hard is the best thing you can do for yourself. As an artist staying disciplined is a key factor, knowing what’s for you and understanding when it’s for you is always essential. Everything’s perfect though I definitely went through bad luck, but I still look at the bad as part of my journey.
