Conversations with Kathie Gerber

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathie Gerber.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I originally started my company in 2024 but had to put it on hold when in early 2025 I had my leg amputated. Actually twice. In April they amputated my leg below the knee, then in July I had gotten a severe infection and had to have the rest of my leg amputated. I spent over 8 months in rehab. During that time I started to plan starting the business up again.
A week before Thanksgiving I came home and immediately started working on my company. What changes needed to be made and what direction I wanted to go. I launched January, 2026.
I advertise on social media which has treated me well. Word of mouth has also helped me. Referrals and so one.
Once a week I send our a promo package to allow people to see what it is in the different boxes and the many 3D Wax Melts we make.
Every Wax melt is handcrafted by me. Every box is curated by me. The customer receives personalized treatment.
My company is doing better than I anticipated in this amount of time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle is advertising. For a small up and coming business funds are tight. Advertising cost is my nemesis.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a 66 year old woman i have been blessed with a history of great work experiences.

I was a Substance Abuse/Mental Health Therapist for many years.

I then started my first company in Virginia Beach and it was hugely successful.

I then spent the remaining time as a Firearms Instructor and started a non-profit business to help women learn how to protect themselves.

In 2021 we moved back to Maryland.

I’m most proud of the company I have now. I truly enjoy what I’m doing.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Becoming independent. Being an amputee has created difficulties that I didn’t have before.
I need to be financially independent. It will allow me to be able to afford the things I need to live life again.
