Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Davis.
Hi Jason, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
semperBKclothing was founded in 2022 with a simple mission — create quality clothing that looks good, feels good, and doesn’t come with the outrageous price tags often attached to major designer brands. I never felt like many of today’s designer clothes were worth the price being charged, so I decided to build a brand that focuses on quality, simplicity, and authenticity at a price everyday people can afford. Inspired by my background as a United States Marine and my roots in Brooklyn, the name combines “Semper Fi” the Marine Corps motto and “BK” to represent Brooklyn, Crown Heights to be specific, and where much of my style and inspiration comes from.
The designs are intentionally simple because that’s the style I personally enjoy wearing. I believe clothing doesn’t have to be loud or overloaded with graphics to stand out. My goal is to create clean, unique pieces that people can wear comfortably every day while still making a statement.
One of the biggest priorities for me is keeping prices reasonable. I understand that not everyone wants — or is able — to spend hundreds of dollars on major name brands just to look good. At semperBKclothing, I focus on providing quality shirts and apparel at fair prices so customers can feel confident in what they wear without breaking the bank.
I’m personally involved in every aspect of the business, from the designs to customer service. I want every customer to know they’re supporting a real person who genuinely cares about their experience. If there’s ever an issue or concern, customers can reach out directly via email and I’ll do whatever I can to make things right and ensure satisfaction.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting semperBKclothing definitely came with growing pains. In the beginning, there were times when sales were slow, support felt limited, and honestly, it was discouraging at times. Like many small business owners, I questioned whether people truly understood the vision behind the brand or if all the hard work would eventually pay off. But no matter how difficult things became, I always found motivation to keep pushing forward.
What kept me going was knowing that I was building something authentic — something that truly represented me, my style, my background, and my values. Every setback became motivation to work harder, improve, and stay consistent. Over time, seeing people support the brand and genuinely connect with the designs reminded me why I started in the first place.
One of the best parts about owning my own clothing brand is that I get to create pieces that both my daughter and I can wear proudly. I don’t even really shop for clothes the way I used to anymore because I’m able to wear and represent my own brand every day, and that feeling is priceless.
I also want to sincerely thank you for the opportunity to highlight semperBKclothing and share my story. It truly means a lot to have platforms and individuals willing to support independent brands and entrepreneurs who are working hard to build something meaningful from the ground up.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of building semperBKclothing, I’ve dedicated over 25 years of my life to public service while working for the federal government. Throughout my career, I’ve also had the honor of serving as both a local police officer in Atlanta and a federal police officer. Those experiences taught me discipline, accountability, resilience, and the importance of staying committed even during difficult times. Serving others and protecting communities has always been something I’ve taken great pride in.
But above all my accomplishments, the thing I’m most proud of is being a father to my daughter. Nothing means more to me than having the opportunity to guide her, teach her, and prepare her to become successful in this crazy world. Everything I do — whether through my career, my business, or life in general — is rooted in creating an example she can be proud of and showing her the value of hard work, integrity, and perseverance.
I’m also extremely proud of my upbringing and humble beginnings. Where I came from shaped me into the man I am today. The lessons, struggles, and experiences I faced growing up prepared me for the real world and gave me the mindset to keep pushing forward no matter what obstacles come my way.
And lastly, one title I will always wear with pride is UNITED STATES MARINE! Being a Marine is more than military service — it’s a mindset, a brotherhood, and a lifelong commitment to discipline, honor, courage and commitment. The values I learned in the Marine Corps continue to influence every area of my life, from my career to my business to the way I carry myself every day.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One thing I truly appreciate about Maryland, and specifically Prince George’s County, is the balance it offers. I enjoy the overall cost of living compared to other major metropolitan areas, while still having easy access to so much opportunity and culture. Being close to Washington, D.C. is a major advantage because of the career opportunities, diversity, entertainment, and overall convenience the area provides.
Another thing I value is being able to travel back to my hometown of New York City whenever I want. Coming from Brooklyn, NYC will always be home to me in many ways, so being within driving distance allows me to stay connected to my roots, family, and the energy that helped shape who I am.
Prince George’s County also has a strong sense of community and culture that I respect. There are many hardworking people here trying to build better lives for themselves and their families, and that’s something I always admire.
At the same time, like many people, one of the things I like least is the crime and the lack of resources in certain communities. There are areas where people deserve more opportunities, more investment, and more support systems to help young people stay on positive paths. I think every community has challenges, but I also believe growth starts with people continuing to care, stay involved, and work toward positive change.
