Today we’d like to introduce you to Myroslava Semerey.
Hi Myroslava, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started as the owners of the franchise ‚HomeSlyce‘ eventually buying ourselves out to become Pizza Harbor. Pizza Harbor has been a neighborhood hem for the past 3 years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Developing a new business is never a smooth road. One has to earn the trust of the customer first and build a solid customer base.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As the owner I always try to add new and interesting items to the menu. Even though our name indicates that we are a pizza place, we also have a special Ukrainian menu. I think that’s what sets us apart from others. One can come over for a pizza and awaken their taste buds with Ukrainian beer, followed by a nice portion of pyrogies or potato pancakes and sweeten his/her soul with the honeycake (made with real honey, my mom‘s original recipe).
We also organize and support local events in the community. Currently we have 2 yearly events: Borshch Taste Off (October or November) and B-More Ukrainian Festival (first weekend in June).
What matters most to you? Why?
Family. I have two families: my own and my customers. When I see happy customers, it encourages me to be better, to do better and to be creative with the menu. My family’s happiness is what drives me, it gives me the energy.
