Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Habermann.
Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Life in Mexico City, then piano studies, then getting college degrees. After that, many years of teaching. Recorded a few albums – now doing other things. Continuing to help students learn to play the piano, not work it – or combine learning with fun.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Finding out what it is that I really want to do. Being true to one’s nature.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Recorded piano works (for the first time ever) that had been declared impossible to play – put a composer on the map with recording firsts. For all those decades with that composer’s work, I’ve moved on. Discovering other things that interest me.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
People came to me because I focused on my job and apparently they liked what I was doing.I did not seek out a support system.
