Inspiring Conversations with Flora & Beks Amadi of Heaven’s Hands Assisted Living

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flora & Beks Amadi.

Hi Flora & Beks, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our journey with Heaven’s Hands Assisted Living began with a shared calling to create a space where care feels deeply personal, dignified, and rooted in compassion. Inspired by real-life experiences caring for loved ones and recognizing gaps in traditional care, we built this home to serve with genuine understanding and purpose.
We saw firsthand how easy it is for individuals, especially seniors, to feel overlooked or treated as part of a system rather than as people with unique stories, needs, and preferences. That realization stayed with us and became the foundation for what we wanted to build: a home, not a facility, to foster genuine connection and comfort.
Starting Heaven’s Hands was not without its challenges. As a small, independently operated assisted living home in Capitol Heights, Maryland, we have prioritized safety and personalized care through ongoing staff training, safety features, and a nurturing environment where each resident feels truly valued and supported.
Today, we are proud to offer a space where families can feel confident that their loved ones are cared for and valued. As we continue to grow and expand, our mission remains the same: to provide compassionate care, guided by grace, and uphold high standards of excellence.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape who we are today.
Like many small businesses, especially in healthcare, one of our biggest hurdles has been balancing our vision for high-quality, personalized care with the financial realities of starting and sustaining a new assisted living home. As a private-pay facility, building awareness and trust in the community while also filling rooms has required consistent outreach, patience, and creativity.
Staffing has also been an ongoing learning experience. Finding team members who not only have the right credentials but who also genuinely align with our values of compassion, accountability, and dignity in care has been critical. We have had to set clear expectations, implement structure, and sometimes make tough decisions to protect the culture we are building, not just for our team, but for our residents.
There have also been day-to-day operational challenges that come with running a direct care environment, ensuring compliance, maintaining consistent quality, and being present for both residents and their families in meaningful ways. It is a level of responsibility that we do not take lightly.
That said, every obstacle has reinforced why we started. It has pushed us to be more intentional, more resilient, and more committed to creating a home where people feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. And through it all, we have learned that growth does not always look like ease; it often looks like perseverance with purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Heaven’s Hands Assisted Living is a residential care home located in Capitol Heights, Maryland, dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care in a warm, intimate setting. We specialize in supporting individuals who need assistance with daily living, while still prioritizing their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
What truly sets us apart is our approach to care. Because we are a smaller home, we can give each resident the kind of attention and presence that is often difficult to find in larger facilities. We take the time to understand who our residents are, their routines, preferences, and personalities, and we tailor our care accordingly. To us, this is not about meeting needs; it is about creating meaningful, day-to-day experiences that feel like home.
We have also been very intentional about creating a safe, well-equipped environment. Our home includes enhanced safety features, such as bed, door, and window sensors, adjustable beds for comfort and mobility support, and a team that receives ongoing monthly training to ensure they consistently grow in skill and awareness. That level of preparation allows us to provide care that families can truly feel confident in.
Brand-wise, what we are most proud of is the culture we are building. Our tagline, “Compassionate Care, Guided by Grace,” is not just a phrase; it is the standard we hold ourselves to every day. It shows how we communicate with families, support our residents, and hold our team accountable.
We want readers to know that Heaven’s Hands is more than a service; it is a place where people are genuinely seen, valued, and cared for with intention. As we continue to grow, our commitment remains the same: to provide a level of care that feels personal, purposeful, and rooted in compassion.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several meaningful ways people can work with us, collaborate, or support what we are building at Heaven’s Hands Assisted Living.
For families who are seeking care for a loved one, we welcome the opportunity to connect, tour our home, and see firsthand the level of attention and compassion we provide. We currently offer private rooms in a personalized residential setting, and we work closely with families to ensure a smooth, supportive transition.
We also value collaboration with healthcare professionals, social workers, discharge planners, and community organizations. Building strong referral partnerships is incredibly important to us, as it allows us to reach families who may benefit from a more intimate, high-touch care environment. We are always open to connecting with professionals who share our commitment to quality care.
For those looking to support us, simply spreading the word about Heaven’s Hands goes a long way. As a growing, independently owned business, community awareness is everything. Whether it is referring a family, sharing our name within your network, or connecting us to local resources, that kind of support truly makes an impact.
We are also always looking to grow our team with individuals who are not only qualified but who genuinely align with our values. For us, it is about building a team that leads with compassion, accountability, and heart.
At the end of the day, collaboration for us is rooted in relationships. We are building more than a business; we are building a trusted space within the community, and we welcome anyone who wants to be a part of that mission.
