Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Love.
Crystal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
If I trace my journey back, it begins with a vivid childhood memory. At just nine years old, I sat in a hair salon watching my older cousin style hair, completely captivated. Even then, I knew—I wanted to be a beautician. That early passion followed me into my teenage years, where I began doing my own hair, along with friends and family, refining what would become the foundation of my career.
After graduating high school, I initially pursued studies in Baltimore in business technology for office computer applications. That season opened the door to the administrative side of work, something I genuinely grew to love. But the call to beauty never left me. I later enrolled in cosmetology school and completed an apprenticeship in my aunt’s salon, officially beginning my professional journey.
I began ministry at the age of 20, unbeknownst to me at the time, it saved my life. Being developed in the call of God while ministering to help others became a transformative process that shaped who I am today.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that my purpose extended far beyond outward beautification. There was something deeper unfolding.
That realization led me to Bible seminary, where one of the prerequisites—counseling—shifted everything. Through that experience, I earned my bachelor’s degree in pastoral counseling, later adding a certification in holistic nutrition. Piece by piece, God was revealing a bigger picture—one that addressed the whole person, not just what could be seen on the outside.
In 2011, that vision became clear. The Lord gave me Holistic Ministries—a calling centered on healing spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially. It was a divine blueprint for ministering to every part of a person’s being, led by the heart of our Father God.
This vision was birthed during a deeply personal time in my life—the transition of my natural father, Prophet Jacob Schroeder, into eternal rest. He was not only my father, but also a spiritual mentor who poured into me in immeasurable ways. In that moment of loss, God made His presence undeniable. While my earthly father could not be replaced, God assured me that He would walk with me for the rest of my life, guiding me and ensuring that the legacy would continue.
I remain incredibly grateful for my upbringing. My parents, Missionary Exemea Schroeder and my father, raised me and my two brothers in the church, giving us a foundation that has remained firm and unshaken.
I’ve hosted many women’s gatherings—one specifically entitled Preparing the Bride for many years—which later transitioned into The Whole Woman Gathering. Alongside these gatherings, we have continued through prayer calls, group therapy sessions, serving the homeless, volunteering at soup kitchens, and outreach in every capacity to ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is spread abroad.
God has also given me the vision to expand the Holistic Ministries team to include men as well—creating a pattern that helps build families and establish holistic health across the church, as well as within the secular arena and marketplace. Recently, God has continued to grow the Holistic Ministries team, restoring families and bringing them together as whole, healthy units.
As a part of this vision, meal plans were developed and distributed through Love’s Holistic Nutrition, providing practical tools for physical wellness alongside spiritual and emotional healing. I am also the author of 18 books centered around healing and wholeness, each designed to guide individuals on their journey toward becoming whole.
Throughout my life, I’ve had many creative ambitions—interior decorating, photography, fashion design, and more. What I now understand is that those weren’t random interests; they were gifts—gifts that God has allowed me to develop and use for His glory. In 2017, I launched my first fashion show and began my clothing line—another expression of purpose unfolding.
Today, I serve as a life and mental health coach through my platform, Coaching with Love, and have recently launched Mentoring with Love, a program designed to guide others into healing and wholeness.
I also serve as an Elder at Kingdom Worship Center in Baltimore, under the leadership of Bishop Gregory Dennis and Pastor Tonya Dennis. Holistic Ministries operates as a para-church under Kingdom Fellowship Covenant Ministries, where my spiritual covering is provided by my spiritual father, Archbishop Ralph Dennis, alongside Lady Deborah Dennis.
When I reflect on my journey, I see that every step—every passion, every transition, every moment of loss and growth—has been divinely orchestrated. What began as a desire to enhance outward beauty has evolved into a life dedicated to restoring the whole person.
John 5:6 is the scripture that anchors all that God has called me to do: “Wilt thou be made whole?”
The question remains for both men and women—will you be made whole?
And this is only the beginning.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, this has not been a smooth road. There have been many obstacles and challenging situations along the way. While having children is a gift from the Lord, having my son out of wedlock opened the door for shame and guilt to be attached to me. However, I knew that was not my true identity that God gave me. It took time to walk through healing, but it was made easier because my son, Joshua Evans, who is now 17 years old, was a bundle of joy and brought so much happiness to my life.
He is now an author of two books and two comic books, and he is graduating high school a year early. He is also preparing to go to college to pursue a career in computer science. God will truly turn everything around for your good.
I am now understanding that God gives all of us a natural temperament. Mine was shyness, and still is at times. Because of that humility, I walked through life not knowing who I was in God, struggling with low self-esteem, and experiencing rejection in many instances. However, I now understand that this was a part of how God wanted to use me to help others.
Through every form of ministry, as well as my career, I am able to help others recognize their worth and value beyond the outward appearance. Helping people walk through difficult situations, past trauma, and pain is truly a blessing. It is also an opportunity to encourage them that there is victory on the other side. Romans 5:3–4 that “we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hair Chemistry / Holistic Ministries ?
I am a cosmetologist by profession, currently working part-time under my business Hair Chemistry, but my work extends far beyond the chair. I am also the founder of Holistic Ministries, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to healing and wholeness. Both of these platforms work hand in hand, allowing me to serve people in a holistic way—naturally and spiritually.
In addition to cosmetology, I am a pastoral counselor, mentor, and life and mental health coach. Whether I’m behind the chair or in a counseling session, my focus remains the same: helping people heal, grow, and discover who they are. On the beauty side, while I specialize in overall hair care, I also provide a full range of services including weaves, wigs, and color.
Expanding from my passion for healthy hair, I launched my own hair care line, Love’s Flow. One of my signature products, Love’s Flow Hair Growth Oil, was introduced in 2021. It’s a brand I’m incredibly excited about because it reflects not just beauty, but restoration and care from the inside out.
Through Holistic Ministries, I’ve come to be known as a patient listener—something that naturally developed into my counseling work. I am a passionate servant in the body of Christ, and many recognize me as a prayer warrior. At the core of everything I do is my relationship with God—it is my lifeline. It is through Him that I have been able to persevere, grow, and accomplish all that I have done, and all that I will continue to do.
I recently launched online courses designed to meet people right where they are. This self-paced experience allows individuals to walk through the journey on their own time, while still receiving structure, guidance, and support. The course includes engaging video teachings, thoughtful homework assignments, and in-depth study guides that encourage both reflection and application. I have also launched my own book publishing company : Love’s Publishing.
This expansion has allowed me to extend my reach beyond in-person sessions, creating an opportunity to pour into people across different locations and seasons of life. My heart has always been to ensure that people receive what they truly need, and this platform makes that possible in a more accessible and intentional way.
It’s more than just a course—it’s a tool for growth, healing, and transformation.
I am also known, by the grace of God, for helping people discover their purpose and walk confidently in it. This mission is woven into every area of my life. Whether through hair care, counseling, or mentorship, my desire is to see people become whole—physically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.
Because at the end of the day, my message is simple: there is life beyond the pain.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is that people discover who they are and understand the reason why God created them. My desire is to see them healed and delivered, walking in their true identity, and learning that everything they’ve experienced can serve a purpose. Because there are so many people who walk through life and sometimes never discover that God truly has a plan for them, there are so many benefits to knowing who you are and being confident in that.
As it says in Book of Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for peace and not for evil, to give you an expected end.”
