Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmena Ayo-Davies.
Hi Carmena, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey really began from a place of personal experience and responsibility. I lost my father to lung cancer, and my mother suffered a stroke over 25 years ago that affected her right side. Watching both of my parents go through serious health challenges gave me a firsthand understanding of what quality care truly means—not just medically, but emotionally and logistically for families.
At a young age, I found myself navigating healthcare systems, advocating, and helping manage care. That experience stayed with me and ultimately shaped the direction of my career. I went on to build businesses centered around service, impact, and community—particularly in healthcare and public relations.
Today, as the owner of Just Amazing Care, I’m committed to helping families access compassionate, reliable in-home care, especially those navigating Medicaid and long-term support options. My work is rooted in making sure people feel supported, informed, and not alone during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
Everything I’ve built is a reflection of where I started—and a commitment to making that journey easier for others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road—and I don’t think it’s supposed to be.
Building in both healthcare and business came with a steep learning curve. On the healthcare side, navigating systems like Medicaid, compliance requirements, and staffing has been challenging. There are constant moving parts—policy changes, delayed payments, workforce shortages—and you’re responsible not just for a business, but for people’s lives and well-being. That level of responsibility comes with pressure.
There were also moments of financial strain, especially early on or during periods when reimbursements were delayed. You still have to meet payroll, maintain quality care, and keep operations running regardless of what’s happening behind the scenes.
On a personal level, carrying the experiences of my parents—losing my father and caring for my mother after her stroke—added an emotional layer to everything I do. It’s meaningful work, but it can also be heavy at times.
And as a woman building in spaces that aren’t always easy to break into, I’ve had to prove myself repeatedly, advocate for my value, and learn to stand firm in my standards.
But those challenges shaped how I lead today. They forced me to become resourceful, disciplined, and very clear on my mission. Nothing about the journey has been easy—but it’s been purposeful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Just Amazing Home Care llc?
Just Amazing Care is a licensed Residential Service Agency (RSA) in Maryland, providing non-medical in-home care to seniors and individuals with disabilities. At our core, we are a community-based organization—we exist to support families and make sure people can receive quality care in the comfort of their own homes.
We specialize in both Medicaid waiver services and private pay care, helping with everyday needs like companionship, meal preparation, mobility support, and daily living assistance. But what really makes us different is how involved we are beyond just providing care. We take the time to educate families, guide them through Maryland Access Point, and help them understand what resources are available to them.
A big part of our impact has come from finding our niche in helping families get paid to take care of their loved ones. So many people are caring for parents or relatives without realizing there are programs that can support them financially. We’ve made it our mission to bring that information directly into the community and walk families through the process step by step.
What sets us apart is our hands-on, people-first approach. We’re accessible, we respond, and we truly care about matching the right caregiver with the right client. For us, it’s not just about filling hours—it’s about building relationships and making sure families feel supported.
What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built within the community. A lot of our growth has come from word-of-mouth, referrals, and real families sharing their experiences. That means everything to us.
I want readers to know that Just Amazing Care is here as a resource. Whether you need care, don’t know where to start, or are currently taking care of a loved one and need support—we’re here to help you navigate it with compassion, honesty, and real solutions.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is making sure people feel supported during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
That comes from my own experiences—losing my father to lung cancer and watching my mother live with the effects of a stroke for over 25 years. I understand what it feels like to navigate care, advocate for a loved one, and carry that responsibility. So for me, this work is not just business—it’s personal.
I care deeply about dignity, trust, and access. Everyone deserves to age or heal with respect, and families deserve clear guidance and real support, not confusion or barriers. That’s why I’ve built my brand around being hands-on, responsive, and truly present for the people we serve.
What also matters to me is empowering families—especially in communities where resources aren’t always clear or accessible. Whether it’s helping someone find care or showing them they can get paid to take care of their loved one, I want people to feel informed, capable, and supported.
At the end of the day, it’s about impact. Knowing that the work we’re doing is making someone’s life a little easier, a little safer, and a little more supported—that’s what drives me every day.
