Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kanita Washington.

Hi Dr. Kanita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in education, where I developed a passion for helping people and leading young people with purpose. I later transitioned into federal service, taking on roles with increasing responsibility and supporting mission-focused programs. Along the way, I continued my education and pursued advanced studies to strengthen my leadership and management skills. Today, I bring together my professional experience, academic background, and commitment to service to make a meaningful impact and continue growing in my career. I have received my Doctor of Healthcare on May 2 2026.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has not been without challenges. Balancing professional responsibilities, academic pursuits, and leadership commitments required strong time management, discipline, and resilience. There were periods where workload demands, financial considerations, and personal responsibilities created pressure, but I remained focused on my goals. I learned to prioritize effectively, seek support when needed, and stay committed despite setbacks. These challenges strengthened my perseverance, adaptability, and leadership skills, ultimately preparing me for greater responsibility and long-term success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an inspirational recording artist, creative visionary, and live stage producer known for creating empowering, high-energy music that motivates people to walk confidently in purpose. My work blends faith, inspiration, and performance into engaging experiences that uplift audiences. I am the voice behind songs such as Freedom Anthem – Not Dimmin’ My Light and Heal the Land, which focus on confidence, healing, and personal transformation.

I specialize in live performance, creative production, and message-driven music that connects emotionally with diverse audiences. In addition to music, I create stage productions, develop creative concepts, and coach others in vision, career growth, and purpose alignment. My creative work is rooted in storytelling, empowerment, and authenticity.

What I am most proud of is using my artistry to inspire people to believe in themselves, overcome adversity, and step boldly into their calling. What sets me apart is my ability to combine music, motivation, leadership, and creative direction into one unified experience that impacts both hearts and minds.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
In my artistry, my parents, husband, children, and church family are my foundation. Their love, encouragement, and belief in my vision have helped me remain confident and committed to my purpose. My parents instilled discipline and faith, my husband provides support and motivation, and my children inspire me to pursue excellence and leave a meaningful legacy. My church family continually uplifts me through prayer, encouragement, and opportunities to share my gifts.
