Exploring Life & Business with Nelly of Mimonovas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelly.

Hi Nelly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Nelly. I’m originally from Venezuela and the founder of Mimonovas. Mimonovas was born during a very personal moment in my life. I’ve always loved creating things with my hands, especially when it comes to giving something meaningful. For me, a gift has never been just about the object, but about the intention, the time, and the care behind it.

It all started one Christmas, when I wanted to create something special for people close to me. I wanted to create something that could bring a sense of warmth, comfort, and emotional connection during a time that is meant to be shared.

That’s why I chose candles. Not just because I love them, but because I see them as something that can transform a space. I didn’t just want to give a product, I wanted to create a feeling. I wanted a fragrance that could make a space feel calm, welcoming, and full of warmth.

I could have bought a candle, even a natural one, but what I couldn’t find was something created with that specific intention behind it. Something that felt thoughtfully made, clean, and balanced, without being overwhelming. That’s when I started creating my own fragrance blends. I wanted something unique, something that carried a purpose and an emotion.

When I lit one of those candles, I felt the shift immediately. It wasn’t just about the scent, it was about how it changed my mood and the atmosphere around me. That moment made me realize this was something I truly loved, not just the result, but the entire process and what it could create for others.

As a woman and immigrant, building Mimonovas has been a journey of growth, learning, and resilience. It became more than a passion, it became a purpose. I wanted to build something real, something that could grow into a meaningful business, and something I could truly be proud of.

I’ve dedicated a lot of time to learning, testing, and refining every detail, from the materials I use to the fragrance blends I develop myself. For me, every element matters, because each piece is meant to create a feeling, not just exist as an object. It’s not just about how something looks or smells, but how it makes you feel when you walk into your home.

Today, Mimonovas represents all of that. It’s about creating intentional pieces that bring warmth, calm, and connection into people’s homes, and creating experiences that go beyond the product itself.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. In the beginning, one of my biggest challenges was simply figuring things out. Finding the right suppliers, working in a small space, and dealing with the uncertainty of whether things would turn out the way I envisioned was not easy.

There was also a lot of trial and error with the products themselves. I went through multiple tests, from using the wrong wicks to struggling with scent performance. Even today, I continue refining that process, especially when it comes to achieving the perfect balance between how a candle smells cold and how it performs when lit.

Beyond the technical side, there have been many emotional challenges as well. Moments of doubt, wondering if all the time, effort, and investment would truly be worth it. There are still days when I feel like I’m not moving forward as fast as I would like, especially when it comes to growing online.

Balancing everything has also been a challenge. Building Mimonovas while working, managing daily responsibilities, and investing both time and money into something that is still growing requires a lot of discipline and patience.

Adapting to a new environment has also come with its own challenges, especially when it comes to communication and fully expressing the value behind what I create. While it hasn’t stopped me, it has pushed me to grow, become more confident.

Despite all of this, what keeps me going is a combination of belief, passion, and purpose. I truly believe in what I create and in the experience behind it. I’ve seen how even a single product can make someone feel something different in their space, and that means everything to me.

Hearing a customer say they love how their home feels, or seeing how something I made brings them joy, reminds me why I started. It’s not just about the product, it’s about the transformation it creates. And that is what continues to push me forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mimonovas?
Mimonovas is a handmade home fragrance and decor brand focused on creating intentional, sensory experiences within everyday spaces. I specialize in crafting candles, wax melts, room sprays, and concrete decor pieces, all designed to bring a sense of calm, warmth, and balance into the home.

What sets Mimonovas apart is the level of intention behind every product. I don’t just focus on how something looks or smells, but on how it makes you feel. I develop my own fragrance blends, carefully balancing each note to create scents that feel clean, comforting, and never overwhelming.

Everything is created in small batches using high-quality, natural materials, with a strong focus on both aesthetics and experience. I also design modern concrete pieces that complement the sensory aspect of the brand, creating a full atmosphere, not just a product.

What I’m most proud of is being able to create something that connects with people on a deeper level. When someone tells me their home feels different, calmer, or more inviting because of something I created, that’s what truly defines Mimonovas.

At its core, the brand is about more than products. It’s about transforming spaces and creating moments that people can feel and remember.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support Mimonovas in many ways, whether it’s through experiencing the products, sharing the brand, or collaborating on meaningful projects.

I’m always open to working with local shops, boutiques, and businesses that align with the vision of creating intentional and elevated spaces. I also enjoy collaborating with creatives, stylists, and brands that value design, atmosphere, and sensory experiences.

I especially love creating curated pieces and experiences for special events, gatherings, and intentional gifting, bringing a sense of warmth and atmosphere into each space in a thoughtful way.

For those who simply want to support, engaging with the brand, sharing it with others, or bringing Mimonovas into their homes truly makes a difference. Every connection, whether big or small, helps the brand grow.

I’m also open to creating custom scent experiences and curated pieces for brands, events, and intentional spaces.
