Meet Ciarra Miles of 3C Freelance, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciarra Miles.

Hi Ciarra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in East Baltimore, my roots run deep on both my mom and dad’s side. I always say that people knew who I was before I truly knew who I was. That meant I couldn’t carry myself just any kind of way—because if I did, trust and believe my grandmother was going to hear about it.

Hearing things like “You look just like…” or “Ain’t you…?” on a regular basis lit a fire in me. It made me want to create my own identity—to build a name for myself, not just inherit one. And don’t get it twisted—my family is well respected and hardworking—but I knew early on that I wanted to make my own mark.

Baltimore didn’t just raise me—it shaped my grit, my voice, and my responsibility to give back.

I’ve always been curious and driven. I was an honor roll student all throughout Catholic school, but when I transitioned to Western High School—my first public school experience—I was in for a real awakening. That experience stretched me and exposed me to a different reality, but more importantly, it taught me something money can’t buy: resilience and determination.

That foundation carried me to become a first-generation college graduate. I earned my Bachelor’s in Paralegal Studies (2008) and my Master’s in Forensic Studies, Legal Track (2011). During that journey, I became pregnant with my son, Caden—and that’s when everything became personal.

I was told I would drop out. That I wouldn’t finish. But as you can see, having my son didn’t delay my purpose—it fueled it. In fact, I’m not sure I would have been as determined without him.

Early in my career, I thought my path was straightforward: paralegal, then law school, then attorney. But after working as a paralegal during the 2008 economic downturn, I quickly realized the reality didn’t match the expectation. Jobs were scarce, pay was low, and roles were evolving in ways that didn’t align with what I envisioned for myself.

Still, I stayed the course. I worked jobs that didn’t pay much and offered no benefits. I won’t sugarcoat it—I didn’t love it. It felt limiting.

So I pivoted.

I leaned into my transferable skills and built a career in healthcare compliance, where I now lead and influence Medicaid compliance strategy. This path has provided financial stability, career growth, and opportunities I hadn’t imagined—relocation, travel, and leadership at the enterprise level.

But that paralegal passion never left me.

So in 2012, I birthed 3C Freelance, LLC.

3C is a paralegal firm designed to support self-represented individuals as they navigate the legal system. I help people understand processes, stay organized, and, when needed, connect with reputable attorneys so they can move forward with confidence. While I do not provide legal advice, I provide clarity—and in moments of legal crisis, that clarity is priceless.

That mission is rooted in something my grandmother always told me:
“Go get your education—but don’t forget to bring it back to your family and your community.”

That’s exactly what I’ve done.

Professionally, I lead in healthcare compliance, but purposefully, I serve my community through 3C and through civic and sisterhood-centered spaces.

I currently serve on the Baltimore City Women’s Commission, where I contribute to advancing equity and opportunities for women and families across the city. I am also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, an organization rooted in scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood.

In addition, I created a book club, Words Over Wine, as a space for women to gather, grow, and build meaningful connections. These spaces reflect my belief that relationships, community, and sisterhood are essential to both personal and collective growth.

At some point, I realized my life is bigger than me. God gives us gifts not to keep—but to use. While my career provides stability for my family, the impact and fulfillment I get from 3C and my community work is something money could never replace.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m a first-generation college graduate and the eldest daughter—you tell me if the road has been smooth. (LOL.)

It hasn’t been easy. But as I approach 40, I can honestly say it has all been worth it. Every challenge shaped me into the woman, mother, daughter, and friend I am today.

I’ve raised my son from birth to now—a Curley High School graduate and a freshman at Bowie State University. And to be honest, I still don’t know what it feels like to have a paycheck fully to myself—but I wear that with pride.

I was also the first in my immediate family to purchase a home. That journey came with its own challenges. After my first offer fell through, I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, Taylor—13 years after having my son.

The timing? Unreal.

I had to end my lease and temporarily move back in with my mom while I searched for a home. Even though it was short-term, it brought back memories of when I was pregnant with my son and navigating uncertainty. That experience was triggering—but it also reminded me how far I’ve come.

Motherhood the second time around has been different.

With my son, we were in survival mode. With my daughter, I get to be present. Soft. Patient. Intentional. I get to raise her in a way that also heals parts of me.

Professionally, I’ve also faced challenges—racism, sexism, and age bias. There were times I was the most qualified person in the room, but still overlooked because of my age or perceived experience.

But instead of letting that stop me, I used it as fuel.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
3C Freelance, LLC—also known as The People’s Paralegal—was created to bridge a very real gap in our community: access to clear, reliable support when navigating the legal system.

We specialize in assisting self-represented individuals, small businesses, and families who may not have immediate access to legal representation but still deserve to understand their rights, options, and next steps. Our services focus on legal document preparation, case organization, process guidance, and connecting clients with reputable attorneys when needed. While we do not provide legal advice, we equip our clients with the knowledge and structure they need to move forward confidently.

What sets 3C apart is our approach.

We lead with transparency, education, and empowerment. Many people delay seeking help because they are overwhelmed or unsure of the cost. That’s why we offer flat-rate pricing—so clients understand upfront what to expect. More importantly, we take the time to explain the “why” behind each step, so our clients are not just being helped—they are being informed.

We are known for being thorough, approachable, and deeply rooted in the community we serve. This is not just a business—it’s an extension of my purpose.

What I am most proud of, brand-wise, is the trust we’ve built. Clients come to us during some of the most stressful moments of their lives, and we’re able to provide clarity, direction, and peace of mind. That impact is something I don’t take lightly.

At its core, 3C is about access, confidence, and community. It’s about making sure people don’t feel lost in systems that were never designed with them in mind.

I want readers to know that you don’t have to navigate legal challenges alone—and you don’t have to feel intimidated by the process. There are resources, there is support, and there are people like me who are committed to helping you move forward with confidence.

3C isn’t just a service—it’s a support system.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People often ask where the “3C” comes from.

It’s deeply personal.

3C represents the three pillars that inspired me when I created my business:
• Cheta (my grandmother)
• Caden (my son)
• Ciarra (me)

Those three names represent my foundation—my past, my purpose, and my future. They are what keep me grounded and remind me why I do this work.

Pricing:

  • 3C offers flat-rate pricing intentionally, with the client in mind. Too often, people avoid seeking help because they fear unpredictable costs. My approach ensures transparency from the beginning—clients understand the minimum and maximum cost upfront. That peace of mind allows them to focus on resolving their situation instead of worrying about affordability.
