Inspiring Conversations with Brian Loebig of Loebig Ink SEO and Web Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Loebig.

Hi Brian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t start my career in digital marketing—I started in a completely different world.

Right out of college at Marquette University, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, my first job was as a substance abuse counselor at a women’s corrections halfway house. I worked nights as the facility’s first male staff member, supporting women navigating some of the toughest chapters of their lives. That experience sparked a deep interest in human behavior, systems, and helping people create better outcomes—something that still influences my work today.

At the same time, something else was quietly capturing my attention: the early internet.

Back in the 1990s, as the web was just beginning to take shape, I found myself drawn to it. I started teaching myself HTML and exploring how websites worked. That curiosity led me back to Marquette, where I pursued a master’s degree focused on information systems and nonprofit management through Marquette’s inaugural, Class of 1997, executive MBA program.

While in that program, I built the university’s first executive MBA website as part of a class project. It was a small project at the time—but it opened the door to something much bigger.

From there, I began blending my nonprofit work with digital tools. As I worked with organizations across Wisconsin, Virginia, and Philadelphia, I naturally became the person responsible for building websites, managing data systems, and helping organizations better communicate and operate online. What started as a side skill quickly became a core strength.

Over time, I realized I wasn’t just interested in building websites—I was passionate about helping organizations grow through digital strategy.

That realization led me to launch my own digital marketing business around 2010.

What makes my path different is that I didn’t come up through a traditional agency background. Instead, I built my foundation in counseling, nonprofits, and data systems. That perspective allows me to approach digital marketing differently—not just as a technical discipline, but as a way to understand people, tell meaningful stories, and build systems that truly support growth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building Through Uncertainty

Starting a digital marketing agency in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis was anything but easy. Budgets were tight, businesses were cautious, and “digital marketing” wasn’t yet the must-have investment it is today. Many companies were still trying to understand whether they even needed a website—let alone a comprehensive online strategy.

At the same time, the rapid rise of Google was fundamentally changing how businesses showed up online. Search engines were becoming the gateway to visibility, and suddenly it wasn’t enough to just have a website—you had to be found.

That shift created both a challenge and an opportunity. Clients needed education as much as execution. A big part of my early work was helping business owners understand how search, local listings, and content could drive real growth. It required patience, persistence, and a willingness to grow alongside the industry itself.

The Turning Point: Maryland and BNI

Everything changed when I moved to Maryland and joined a local chapter of Business Network International (BNI).

That decision became a catalyst for growth.

Through consistent networking, relationship-building, and a commitment to being a trusted resource, the business began to scale—quickly. In fact, the agency doubled in size year over year for the first four years after joining BNI.

But it wasn’t just about referrals—it was about partnerships.

Within the chapter, I built strong relationships with complementary “power team” partners—other professionals in branding, design, development, and adjacent marketing disciplines. Those partnerships allowed us to collaborate on larger, more complex projects and present a more complete solution to clients.

Instead of operating as a solo provider, we functioned as a strategic network—capable of competing for and winning larger contracts that would have been out of reach individually.

That collaborative model not only accelerated growth, but also shaped how I think about business today: success isn’t built alone—it’s built through relationships, trust, and shared expertise.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Loebig Ink SEO and Web Design?
At its core, Loebig Ink SEO and Web Design exists to help businesses get found, build trust, and grow—consistently and predictably—through digital channels.

We specialize in search-driven growth, combining website design, local SEO, and content strategy to ensure our clients don’t just have a presence online—they have visibility where it matters most. Whether it’s ranking in search results, optimizing a Google Business Profile, or building a high-converting website, everything we do is rooted in one simple goal: turning online attention into real-world business.

But what truly defines Loebig Ink isn’t just what we do—it’s how we do it.

What We’re Known For

We’ve built a reputation for being:

Results-focused – We prioritize measurable outcomes like rankings, traffic, leads, and revenue—not vanity metrics
Relationship-driven – Many of our clients come through referrals and stay with us for years
Educators first – We help clients understand why things work, not just what we’re doing
Local SEO experts – Especially when it comes to optimizing visibility through Google Business Profiles and localized search strategies

We’re often brought in when a business has been burned by generic agencies or templated solutions—and they’re ready for a more thoughtful, strategic partner.

Our Specialization

While we work across industries, we’ve developed deep expertise in:

Local and service-based businesses
Professional services firms
Multi-location organizations
Organizations that rely heavily on referrals and reputation

Our approach blends technical SEO, strong content, and conversion-focused design to create systems that generate leads—not just clicks.

What Sets Us Apart

There are a few key things that make Loebig Ink different:

1. A Non-Traditional Foundation
Our roots in counseling, nonprofits, and data systems give us a unique lens. We understand people, behavior, and decision-making—not just algorithms.

2. Strategy Before Tactics
We don’t jump straight into execution. We focus on building the right strategy first—so every action has purpose and direction.

3. Built on Relationships, Not Transactions
Our growth has been fueled by trusted partnerships, especially through organizations like Business Networking International (BNI). That relationship-first mindset carries into how we serve every client.

4. Collaborative Power Teams
We don’t operate in a silo. Through strong partnerships with designers, developers, and marketing specialists, we’re able to scale and deliver solutions that go far beyond a typical small agency.

What We’re Most Proud Of

More than rankings or revenue, we’re most proud of the trust we’ve built.

Long-term client relationships that span years
A business grown largely through referrals and word-of-mouth
Helping small and mid-sized businesses compete—and win—against much larger competitors
Building a brand that stands for integrity, clarity, and results

At Loebig Ink, success isn’t just about digital performance—it’s about helping businesses grow in a way that’s sustainable, strategic, and aligned with who they are.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
If I had to distill it down to one defining characteristic, it would be trust built through consistency.

Not just trust in the sense of being likable—but trust earned over time by showing up, delivering results, communicating clearly, and doing what you say you’re going to do. In digital marketing, where many clients have been burned by overpromises or vague reporting, that consistency becomes a real differentiator.

It’s what allows Loebig Ink SEO and Web Design to:

Retain clients long-term
Generate steady referrals
Build strong partnerships
Grow without relying heavily on outbound sales

That consistency also shows up in your networking approach—especially through BNI—where relationships aren’t transactional, they’re built week by week, interaction by interaction.

Plenty of agencies can execute tactics. What’s harder to replicate—and ultimately more valuable—is being the partner clients know they can rely on, year after year.

That’s what drives sustainable growth.
