Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Burton.
Diana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been drawn to caring for others. My early career in the military deepened that instinct, but it was my own health journey that truly changed the direction of my life. After experiencing trauma and years of unexplained health challenges, I found myself exhausted, discouraged, and searching for answers that conventional approaches weren’t providing.
Everything shifted when I began exploring a more holistic approach to nourishment and wellness. Through real food, gentle lifestyle rhythms, and a deeper understanding of how stress and midlife changes affect the body, I slowly rebuilt my energy and confidence. What began as personal healing became a calling.
Today, I am the founder of Salute to Wellness, where I work primarily with women over 40 who feel tired, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their bodies. My work goes beyond meal plans. It is about helping women reclaim steady energy, restore calm, and feel at home in themselves again. I believe wellness does not have to be extreme or complicated. It can be simple, grounded, and sustainable.
My journey has been layered, nonlinear, and deeply human. And that is exactly what allows me to guide others with empathy and realism. I do not teach perfection. I teach nourishment, resilience, and rebuilding from the inside out.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. My wellness journey began after years of chronic health challenges, where I often felt dismissed or misunderstood, even when I knew something was not right. That experience can wear on you, not just physically, but emotionally. It is hard to stay hopeful when you are doing your best and still not getting answers.
Starting over in midlife has also been its own challenge. I was rebuilding my health while also rebuilding my confidence, my routines, and my sense of direction. There were seasons of deep self-doubt, financial pressure, and perfectionism that made it tempting to stay quiet instead of showing up.
But those struggles shaped the work I do today. They taught me how to meet women with empathy, to focus on small sustainable changes, and to create support that feels realistic for real life. I would not be able to guide others the way I do now if I had not lived through the hard parts first.
As you know, we’re big fans of Salute to Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Salute to Wellness is a holistic nutrition and lifestyle platform created specifically for women over 40 who feel tired, inflamed, or disconnected from their bodies. I specialize in helping women rebuild steady energy, restore calm, and feel at home in themselves again through real food, simple rhythms, and sustainable daily habits.
What sets my work apart is that I focus on realistic transformation rather than extreme protocols. Many women in midlife feel overwhelmed by conflicting advice, restrictive plans, or all-or-nothing thinking. My approach is grounded, gentle, and practical. I teach women how to nourish themselves in ways that fit real life, not an idealized version of it.
My offerings include digital guides, structured meal plans, mini-courses, and personalized coaching. Each resource is designed to simplify wellness rather than complicate it. I believe consistency matters more than intensity, and small shifts, when supported properly, can create meaningful long-term change.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the tone and integrity of Salute to Wellness. It is calm, honest, and rooted in lived experience. I do not position myself as someone who has everything perfectly figured out. I position myself as someone who has walked through the hard seasons and learned how to rebuild in a sustainable way. That lived understanding is what my clients resonate with most.
At its core, Salute to Wellness is about helping women reclaim their vitality without shame, pressure, or extremes. I want readers to know that midlife is not a decline. It can be a powerful reset when you have the right support.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think many people assume mentorship has to be formal or come from one single person, but my experience has been more layered than that. Some of my greatest growth has come from learning through books, courses, community conversations, and observing how other women lead their lives and businesses.
If I could offer advice, it would be to approach networking with curiosity rather than strategy alone. Instead of asking, “What can this person do for me?” ask, “What can I learn here?” or “How can I contribute?” The most meaningful connections I’ve built have come from shared values and genuine conversations, not transactional exchanges.
It also helps to be willing to show up consistently, even when you feel uncertain. Reach out. Ask thoughtful questions. Be generous with encouragement. Over time, those small interactions compound into relationships.
Mentorship doesn’t always look like a formal agreement. Sometimes it looks like surrounding yourself with voices that challenge you to grow and being brave enough to take the next step before you feel fully ready.
