Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoa Conner.
Hi Zoa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My path has been anything but linear.
I started as a ballet dancer, earned my PhD in Physics and became a university professor. Then I had a baby and chose motherhood fully. I leaned into that season, homeschooling my children through college age, and became deeply invested in wellness.
Yoga brought me back to movement. A chronic mold illness in my teenager pulled me into functional health out of necessity. What started as healing my family became my new path forward.
Now I run retreats and a functional wellness studio where I help women build lifestyles that actually work for their unique biology. Physicist turned wellness mentor is not a common story, but it is mine.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all and I think that is the point.
One significant setback pushed me to start my own business, and I am genuinely grateful for it now.
Being surrounded by illness in my own home could have broken my self-care habits completely, and for a while it did. But it also lit a fire in me to go deeper into what actually supports the body.
The other real struggle was access. I kept wanting to learn and experience healing modalities that simply were not available locally. That frustration is what led me to build my Functional Wellness Studio, so my clients do not have to fight for access the way I did.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I run two interconnected businesses that really function as one mission.
Intentional Vitality Retreats offers group and private immersive experiences where women build a personalized lifestyle plan grounded in modern science, ancient wisdom, and plain common sense. You leave with something you can actually implement, in stages, so the change sticks.
Zen and Vitality with Zoa is my hybrid studio based in La Plata, MD, available in person or online. This is where we dig into the full picture: nutrition, digestion, hormone health, injury recovery, detox support, nervous system regulation, fatigue, chronic pain, and even cognitive longevity. Everything is focused on your lifestyle without the reliance on medications or a fragmented healthcare system.
Most people do not have a physicist on their wellness team which is what makes my methods unique. I connect the dots. I explain why certain supplements work for your body, what your symptoms are actually telling you, and how that new protocol you started might be causing your strange sleep patterns. My clients have seen several providers before finding me and have not received any real answers. We start with one problem and quickly discover how interconnected everything is.
My clients are curious, independent, and want to stay vibrant without doing a hundred things. If that sounds familiar, book a free consult and let’s map out what your body actually needs.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Ballet recitals. The pulled-back hair, the costumes, the feeling of being fully in my body on stage. Those memories still live in me and guide me every time I am in front of a group.
