Like many Afro-Caribbean woman entrepreneurs, my path was not without challenges. Building this company required faith in my vision, resilience, and a willingness to grow through every season of business ownership. Each project strengthened both our expertise and our reputation, largely through word-of-mouth and trusted relationships within our community.
What began as a vision has evolved into a firm dedicated to elevating residential, commercial, and investment properties through thoughtful design and professional execution. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is rarely a completely smooth road, and my journey has been no exception. Building SIDC HOMES required stepping into unfamiliar territory, making difficult decisions, and learning to navigate the complexities that come with growing a business from the ground up.
One of the earliest lessons I embraced was the importance of resilience. There were moments that absolutely tested my patience, stretched my leadership, and required me to trust my vision even before others could fully see it.
Like many founders, I faced the challenge of establishing credibility in a competitive and saturated industry while remaining committed to the level of excellence I wanted this design firm to represent.
However, those experiences did not deter me, but rather, they refined me.
Each obstacle strengthened my clarity, deepened my discipline, and helped shape the client-centered approach that is the epitome of SIDC HOMES today.
I have come to view challenges as part of the architecture of success. Like a srtucture they build the endurance, wisdom, and perspective necessary to lead with intention. Looking back, I would not trade those seasons of growth, because they laid the foundation for the company we continue to build, expand, and grow.

I am a strong believer in continuous growth, both personally and professionally, and I intentionally seek out resources that challenge my thinking and strengthen my leadership.
Audiobooks have been a consistent source of insight for me, particularly titles like Atomic Habits, which reinforces the power of disciplined daily action, The Psychology of Money, which offers a valuable perspective on financial decision-making, and Good to Great, a reminder that lasting success is built through clarity, consistency, and strong organizational culture.
Beyond books, I value environments and conversations that expand my perspective, whether through mentorship, thought leadership, or time spent reflecting on how I can continue to evolve as both a founder and a leader.
