Inspiring Conversations with Keosha Hall of Keosha Hall Hair Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keosha Hall.

Hi Keosha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey as a cosmetologist is one that I truly believe was destined. I didn’t choose this path—cosmetology chose me. Throughout various stages of my life, I often found myself in salon environments, never realizing that those experiences would ultimately shape my passion and purpose.

My first introduction to the beauty industry came at a very young age through my mother, Rhonda Wilson, a first-generation hairstylist. Growing up as what many would call a “shop baby,” I spent countless days and nights watching her work, perfect her craft, and nurture meaningful relationships with her clients at Optimistic Hair Salon.

Later in life, during my college years, I once again found myself in a salon setting—this time as an assistant at The Wilder Experience Hair Salon, under the guidance of owner and stylist Tené Wilder. It was there that something inside me began to awaken. I became fascinated by the ins and outs of salon life—observing the daily operations, watching a variety of skilled hair services being performed, and witnessing the strong bonds built between stylists and clients. At the time, I thought I was simply working to earn some extra money as a college student, unaware that God was preparing me for something greater.

After transitioning from The Wilder Experience, I joined Blush Beauty Bar Hair Salon as an assistant under the guidance of owner and stylist Melissa Robinson. During that time, I began to witness, understand and embrace the power of entrepreneurship and it’s impact. I began to nurture my creativity and recognize entrepreneurship as apart of my purpose. Even with that growing sense of direction, I was still learning to find my footing and define who I was becoming as a young woman.

After completing my MBA at Bowie State University, I spent several years working diligently in the corporate world but despite my success, I found myself unfulfilled. One day, I made the decision to enroll in the cosmetology school conveniently located across the street from my job. It was time to take my education and purpose to the next level.

While attending cosmetology school at Baltimore Studio of Hair Design, I balanced a full-time job and continued to do hair from the basement of my home. During this period, I also earned my Senior Cosmetology License. In 2016, I made the bold decision to leave corporate America for good—and I’ve never looked back.

The following year, I took my career to California, where I spent three years building my brand, opening Keosha Hall Hair Studio, and launching my own hair care product line. During the pandemic, I returned home to Baltimore in 2020 and proudly reopened my salon.
Today, through the sustaining of God, I continue to stand strong—grateful for the journey and excited for all that lies ahead.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe that with anything in life, challenges are inevitable but every obstacle carries a lesson. I’ve learned to take the good along with the growth that comes from those learning experiences. I’ve been truly blessed to transition smoothly throughout my career by allowing God to be both my anchor and my source. I simply strive to follow His voice when making decisions. When He tells me to move, I move—and through that obedience, I’ve continually experienced His favor and grace.
