Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Vaughn.
Steven , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Stevie Monie a.k.a. Steven Vaughn I’ve been tattooing for 25 years. I started tattooing in2001 @NewAmericantattooco professionally in 2003 after two years of practicing privately before landing the job there. After years of owning a studio in Harford county called Pinz and Needlez i worked privately from 2014-2019 then in 2019 I took over ownership of new American tattoo along with my business partner, Nicholas Bryant and we’ve been in business ever since doing tattoos and body piercings at the location of our shop 6308 Eastern Ave. you can see more of my work at tattoomoney.com
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In life, we all have our share of ups and downs. I’ve definitely seen my share in 2016. My youngest daughter was severely injured in a house fire I took care of her for eight years until 2024 when she passed away I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career and it’s definitely been a rough road, but I’m not a quitter. I take pride in what I do and I love being a tattoo artist. A specialize in photorealism portrait and large scale, black and gray tattoo work.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a tattoo artist, but I also like to make music in my spare time I write songs as a way to combat depression I rely on my creativity to keep me focused on positive things in my life in tattooing a specialize in photo realism and portrait. I’ve been sought after by many people from many different states over the course of my 25 year span tattooing I plan a tattoo until I die. I love it with all my heart. It gives me purpose and I’m grateful for every single client that comes to me and trust me with their tattoo ideas.
What matters most to you? Why?
One of the most important things to me is my family my children. I have four kids total my oldest is 24. I have two sons 15 and 14 and my daughter that passed away was eight years old. Obviously I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it wasn’t for the dedication and hard work that it took to get here, but before all that I was motivating the most by the fact that I had children to take care of, and I wanted to make them proud of who I am and what I’m about.
